Extreme dizziness

I have been suffering with dizziness for some months now but up until 3 weeks ago it was only when I moved my head from side to side. In the last three weeks, I have had constant dizziness 24 hours a day and I really dont feel with it. My doctor though it was bppv and asked me to the the modified epley manoevre at night which I did for over a week with no improvement. Now over the past weeks, I have become worse. The doctor has given me stemeil which didnt work and now betahistine dihydrochloride which make me feel sick all the time. I have now been referred to Ear Nose and Throat at the hospital with several weeks waiting list. In the meantime, I am not fit to drive or do very much. I feel dreadful and do not feel at all switched on to do anything?
Anyone any ideas Please?

Another girl mentioned it before - there is one type of migraine that causes all these problems but without the headache called - I think - silent migraine - She said she had 2 conditions and not to always think everything is 1 dx per her dr. 😆

I had 'silent migraines' you don't know you have a migraine but just the aura of a migraine which can affect your balance. I adjusted my diet as chocolate and cheese were a trigger, got put on nortriptyline and now am much better. Took 2 years to get a diagnosis as also have BPPV which was blurring the picture. See a neuro otologist to speed up the diagnosis, I wasted time being seen by just ENT.

Hi,
I have been dealing with extreme dizziness going on 2 months. I went to my PCP and he gave dizziness med and no relief. He referred me to the ENT Dr. On my second visit she did a balance test. The results was vestibular nuerontis which I'm still not very clear on but it can be caused by inflammation of the ear also the nerve that sends signals to the brain is affected and i also have headaces. Maybe go see the ENT Ear, Nose, throat Dr. Im now waiting to be scheduled for physical therapy to help reset my balance. I am being driven around can't drive. Hope you get answers soon. Feel better.

Make an appointment with an Otologist or a neurotologist. The ENT's don't know much. You have what I have. Over time I got somewhat better. Mostly due to Vestibular Rehab Therapy. There is a book that can be downloaded from Amazon by Bobby Gibbs: The Vertigo Treatment: A simple step by step guide for treating vertigo. It shows all the exercises and lays out a schedule. Don't do too much at first. This is not a more is better thing. You can quickly overwhelm your system.
