Extremely itchy vulval and anal area for 6 years

6 years ago I had a terrible itch start on the right side of my labia majora. It spread to my anal passage and has plagued me ever since. It bothers me constantly! I scratch so much it bleeds sometimes, and it's like I can't *not* scratch, because of now desperately itchy it is.

I have tried yeast treatments, vagisil, etc., and nothing ever worked. It's getting worse and I'm so desperate for a cure!

I went to my gynaecologist. She didn't examine me and told me to get an over the counter yeast cream 😤. Didn't work.

I have gone through two pregnancies with this terrible, non stop itching! I have had it! I just want my old vagina and anus back, the one that didn't drive me absolutely insane with the crazy itching!

A few days ago I went to my GP and he examined the area. He looked at the results of my pap, no yeast. All previous paps were also negative for yeast, so as far as I know this is not yeast related.

He prescribed me an ointment they mixed at the pharmacy. It has an antifungal, a moisturizer, Betaderm 0.1%, Clotrimaderm 1%, and zinc.  It's been a few days but so far I have no relief!

He thinks it is contact dermatitis, so I have stocked up on the 100% cotton panties, stopped having baths, and bought myself a cleanser that isn't a soap called Cetaphil

I don't know what else to do! Please help me, if anyone else has experienced this dreadful, scaly, moist, thick skinned itch from hell, I'd love to hear from you. I hope to find out what the heck this is and get rid of it once and for all! My labia majora is actually getting slightly scarred from the scratching over the years 😞

Hi, it may be worth seeking a vulva dermatologist as it may be Lichen Sclerosis. Check out the symptoms and discussion board on LS. A dermatologist will be able to advise you.

I agree with Samantha. You shouldn't see a gynaecologist, you need to see a dermatologist who specialises in vulva skin. Nevertheless, I am surprised the gynae didn't take a biopsy to test for lichen sclerosis or other things. I had a Vulval biopsy when I was suffering from severe burning and soreness but looked normal. Came back negative for everything, so I was diagnosed with vulvodynia. The vulva dermatologist is the one who helped me get cured. It could be an allergy, a type of dermatitis, lichen sclerosis. One thing that I found soothing was coconut oil. Not only is it a great natural emollient but it has antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial properties. It clears up any rough patches of skin anywhere on the body, it is my go-to for any skin problems. I even use it in my eyes to cure stys.

You need to use pure, organic, raw, cold pressed coconut oil.

For me this has been going on (on and off) for years. I’m not sure how long. I’ve taken heaps of treatments for thrush and worms. I have spoken to multiple doctors and specialists about it. For me I also feel super embarrassed about it though too! Every test I’ve had done has basically been clear. Sometimes I wonder if the “itch causes the itch” I’ve used coconut oil (pure raw organic yada yada) and I don’t think it worked. I’ll try it again. I also wonder if it’s because I used sanitary pads for menstration but have just read tampons can cause it..? But then again I got it way more when I was pregnant although I thought it was thrush..?  I use paw paw ointment which helps slightly and been prescribed so many ointments now I get confused between what is what. I’ve also had allergy tests done and what I’m allergic to isn’t applicable for my vaginal area. I always have a hard time ensuring I do the 14 day treatments with the creams though, I usually manage to do the first week perfect and in the second week keep forgetting. There was one cream I got given about a year and a half ago by a different doctor I went to in desperation and I’m sure it worked for a little while but my doctor didn’t know what it was and I had so many different creams for it and other things I didn’t know which one! I don’t eat too much sugar although I do drink quite a lot (but it doesn’t seem to be specifically connected in anyway) and I’m starting to wonder if I have diabetes because vaginal itching can be a symptom of undiagnosed diabetes condition... I have to go to the doctor and ask them. It’s just good to know I’m not the only one! Currently up at 130am unable to sleep because of it! It’s a fricken nightmare isn’t it!

My issue wasn't exactly the same as yours but the crazy itching I had for almost 10 years before I found a cure. I tried everything from Doctor's to natural paths and every cream, lotion and potion, I was so desperate I would have tired anything and did!  I found the cure by accident really. Since then I have had complete relief from the itching, burning, redness I told my sister who had menstrual problems and it has helped her. Somehow this balances hormones and boosts the immune system. Let me give you the cure then the story. Black Cumin Seed and Coriander seed  made into a Tea. I bought a book for my ex-husband called " The Prime Diet" He didn't want to read it so I read it. They talked about a tea that helps your body and "primes" it for weight loss. So I made the tea and started drinking it. While it did nothing for weight loss for me, it stopped the itching!!!! When I stopped drinking the tea a month later the itching came back. When I started the tea again within 24 hours or less it was gone!!! Honestly it was like a miracle. I suffered for 10 years countless tests, creams, pills ect. I live in Canada and this is the brand I use " Amazing Herbs" Black Seed which is a 100 percent pure black cumin seed or Nigella Sativa Seeds. I put one full heaping TABLESPOON of this with a TEASPOON of coriander seeds, must be seeds not ground coriander. I put them in a infuser tea pot for 2 hours and then drink. You can also buy the liquid of black seed which gives you an extra boost but it was the combination of both daily that helped and has continued to help for the last 2 years. I couldn't have sex and it was so bad sometimes I would have to put a ice cube on my vagina just to numb it so I could sleep. I don't know if this will help you but if your at your wits end it couldn't hurt to try. Both my sister and I have been helped by this tea for different reasons. If you try it and it works please let me know. So many women are suffering needlessly without any answers. Diane [smile]

What product did you buy exactly? Looking on their website they have soft gels and oils for the black seed. Did you put a tablespoon of the oil in with the coriander seeds? Thanks

Did you use the Amazing Herbs black seed powder or whole seeds to make the tea?

Q: how much water per 1tbsp cumin/1tsp coriander?

Any digestion side effects? Like diarrhea, vomiting, etc. These herbs have equal amount benefits to harmful side effects each. And no studies done for combination effects.

Coriander is a laxative if ingested in large amounts.

If any of you have not had a biopsy done, please do. Most GYNs and dermotogolgists do not have experience with LS, VIN or vulvar cancer ( not saying you have cancer ) I had an itch for a year and a half. I tried all the creams, docs ran all the tests ( herpes they did twice) . My gynecologist didn't know what it was but removed it in the operating room and it was VIN 3. It's a precancerous condition that must be treated.  Both LS and VIN can lead to vulvar cancer if not treated correctly. To date, I have had 3 surgeries to remove these lesions.

Hey, what did your lesions look like?? I'm worries I have VIN but my doctor isn't interested in running any tests at all and it's getting very worrisome. Where they specifically itchy or was it itchy everywhere?

They would go from being a little elevated and red. Sometimes bleeding a little and crazy itch and burn. It would go away after about 3 days and look almost normal skin tone without itching. It would only itch near my lesions . Since people have multi focal lesions meaning, multiple and can cause people to itch every where. Your best bet it to get a biopsy. If gyn won't do it, find one that will .

I am so glad I am not alone! I’ve been dealing with a constant itch going on 5 yrs now. I changed laundry detergent, fabric softener, bath soap, switched to coton  panties, you name it I did it, because I was completely miserable!!

I wake up in the middle of the night clawing my skin. I have been to obgyn (every year) she tried treating me for several months before sending me to a dermatologist (I think the Dermetoligist thought I was completely crazy) Dermetoligist could never find the problem/ cure. I was then sent to another Dermetoligist, still nothing. Then I was sent to a specialist & the compound cream worked pretty good for about a month then back to clawing my skin. I also had two biopsies done (not fun!) & the only thing they could come up with both times was contact dermatitis.
