Extremely tired post rectocele/cystocele repair

Hello fellow ladies.

I’m 8 days post op. All going ok but after consult yesterday - an hours drive away I slept for five hours! I feel tired anyway but I could just sleep for a week.

Apart from yesterday I lay on my bed most of the time as more comfortable than sitting, much more comfortable. I don’t even get dressed. Shower and clean nightwear. Is this normal or am I being lazy? Others experience would be useful thank you in advance.

Hi , please don’t worry I was exactly the same after my op 7 weeks ago. I used to lie down for what I had intended to be half and hour and woke up 4 hours later.  I had the same op as you and have found the recovery  very hard going but it does get better. Go with it and rest as much as you can.

    Wishing you a speedy recovery

      Oh Jennifer

I do feel for you with young children. It’s great you are at your mums but I feel guilty all the time listening g to my husband doing everything all day.

Please don’t bend at all it puts a lot of pressure on the pelvic floor as well as sit up position - I roll out of bed. No lifting and no oberstretchibg pulling or pushing. You need to keep this up for a good few weeks and even after three months when tissue has regained fibrous strength we should not be lifting heavy weights long term.

It’s really hard. Does your family understand the mechanics of what you have had done?

Is there anything you can help your mum with whilst sitting or in bed. Preparing vegetables. Folding small laundry? How long are you planning on being at your mums? I take it you don’t have anyone else to help you at home, or do you have a partner working.

I do hope you find a way to manage.

I did buy myself a helping hand grabber which is fantastic for picking up things lower down or that I have dropped.  Keep us posted on how you get on rest rest rest 💜
