I had Undergone barrage laser treatment 2 week back for my lattice degenerative eye and I am experiencing annoying flashes and shimmering of light and my doctor told not to worry as long as there is no problem with vision. I'll document my experience here I feel that its the side effect of the laser treatment. At this point I feel lonely and there is no one to guide me in this situation.

So as of now shimmering of light has become less and now there is a new problem, I am getting flashes like flickering of light bulb in left side of peripheral vision in my left eye, this usually happens for about 4 to 5 times a day and last for 2 seconds. These side effects are literally disturbing me and killing me, I hope that this thing ends very soon since I cannot concentrate on any work when this happens. I have booked an appointment with the doctor and I'll be giving you the updates soon. Plus the reason why I am doing this is because I didn't find any information regarding this and here I am suffering like hell, Its impossible to ignore those flashes and I feel way too scared, and I don't want this to happen with someone else since I know how difficult it is to deal with these things. I hope documenting my experience would help.

One More thing which I want to add is the bright rooms make it worse. So if possible avoid bright lights. I don't know why but I feel that my overthinking is causing more troubles. Everything takes time even the smallest wound in any body sometimes take months to heal. So its better that I just keep in touch with my doctor and just lead a normal life. The main reason I went for barricade laser is because I have had all the symptoms of retina detachment and I didn't wanted to worry about each and every flashes and floaters that I get.

    Hi Guys,

I read tons of post and I am drawing following conclusion:

    1. These shimmering/flickering/Flashes would go away be patient and always remember these are like floaters even if they don't go away, it would reduce to such an extent it won't bother you unless you pay too much attention to it, but eventually it would disappear

    2. Drink lots of water keep yourself well hydrated

    3. Don't take stress and focus on your goals, consult your retina doctor if you feel worse

    4. Focus on your goals

    5. Yoga might help you (Especially anulom vilom)

and if you still feel you did a wrong thing but opting retina laser then beware, you can at least bear this symptoms rather than going blind, be grateful that you can see this world, most people are not that lucky, god has really blessed you. Just be patient.

No one is reading my post, but I feel someday to someone it might help because there are very few people that know about these side effects

    Hey Guys what's up

I was very anxious past 3 days but I have realized that things have started to improve even though it makes me disturbed I learnt that more I focus on it more miserable I become so yeah this is the update shimmering has become worst but the flashes are reducing plus its doesn't bother me much. It all depends on your brain the more you try to ignore more faster it would recover trust me. At least I am grateful that my vision is good. Lets see. I had got bad habit, reading about retina detachment that only adds up more anxiety so I'll get back after a short break.

    Hey guys wassup

So its been a month and I was in depression for a week but soon after I realized that its the brain and nothing else, what I felt most of the people go away when they stop noticing the side effects because that's what recovery is why would they worry or seek assurance after getting everything improved. So coming to my symptoms I don't know if its wishful thinking or not but

my symptoms are getting better so I have made few protocols which I'll follow to make my eye heal faster. I'll take a break for 3 month and I'll update you guys very soon.

    Take Care

    Live Long and Prosper

      Everything is fine

My symptoms aren't that bothersome. Regarding PVD I'd suggest you to take 2nd or 3rd opinion and do not overthink about problems, it'll make your life restless

    Hi bro,

I had barrage laser done in both eyes last week.

I am experiencing some flashes of lights in my right eye near the periphery. Is it normal or is there any problem. My doctor said that he will examine me after 6 weeks of laser. But its so annoying that I am feeling impatient.

      Don't worry....

It'll reduce overtime. I got really anxious during initial days. That's the reason why healing took so long. Your brain needs time. They have burnt your retina which are nerves basically. So healing takes time. Just don't get anxious it'll make things worse. Just consult a good doctor and don't worry too much about it..

      Some tips that I followed:

      1. Don't think too much about it
      2. Avoid usage of phone/laptop for longer duration
      3. Provide your brain proper rest
