Eye issues; pain in feet

Posted , 14 users are following.

HI ladies,

Just wondering if anyone else has multiple issues with their eyes? I've been to the eye doctor multiple times with floaters, eye pain, burning eyes. everything looks healthy. I am on the tail end of perimenopause. could it be the culprit?

Also, recently having a lot of pain in my feet. Has anyone else experienced this? Anxious about it, so not really looking for suggestions of other disease possibilities, just wondering if other ladies have had it.

Yes to the feet... podiatrist told me to wear good shoes all the time.. no going bare-foot.. But still experience it at the bottoms of my feet.. It has to be related to hormones

yes! floaters- a lot, everywhere- interfere with vision often, light sensitivity, burning, pain at the back of the eye and eye itself. I hate it but I have all of these and the ophtalmologist says my eyes are fine!

Yes to both eye issues and foot pain.

The floaters (if that's what they are) started in my late 20s, along with other strange vision issues like "graininess" and vague eye discomfort. (Back then, one specialist said I had floaters, another said I didn't and told me I must have neurological issues before kicking me out of his office with no advice.) It has gotten worse since perimenopause started. Eyes have slowly been getting more and more dry. An optometrist said I have dry eyes and associated scratches on the surface of my eye, and suggested eye drops.

Since I have a slightly high ANA (antinuclear antibody) count of 1:320, which is associated with certain autoimmune diseases including Sjrogen's Syndrome (dry eyes etc), Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus etc -- but never had a diagnosis of any of these -- I am wondering if the dry eyes are related to this in some mild form.

I also this past year started having bad foot pain of various kinds. Pain after getting out of bed (just lasts a few minutes), pain at the base of my big toe (comes and goes for days), pain in my ankles like some kind of bursitis feeling, very occasional sharp pins, and in the past two months, twitching and occasional stiffness especially in the left foot.

Sometimes I'm afraid there is more going on here than fluctuating estrogen (especially since these types of symptoms seem to contribute to other diagnoses, as seen on other forums), but then again it seems to me my mother and sisters have had some of this same neurological type of stuff going on since they passed menopause. It's so very complex and hard to pin down. I for one am exhausted by chasing down answers at doctors' offices and am taking a break from the explorations for now and just finding in comfort in knowing I'm not alone with all this stuff. Thanks for sharing!

I'm about where you are too Stella. I have come to accept many of my strange neurological symptoms which i have had for nearly 3 years and have stopped going to specialists and trying to find the causes. I have had so many tests already and all come back clear. I have accepted my fate and I am now focusing on trying to be well both physically and emotionally. I have started yoga, meditation, using essential oils and exercise whenever I can. I also try and drink as much water as I can, drink herbal teas and get out in the sun often, I take baths, have a massage every month, and take supplements like magnesium, vitamin C, B and D.

Thanks @jenjen75. It's always reassuring to have some tests done and have them come back clear, so I'm glad to hear you've had some done.

I've been trying to do the same with attending to the physical/emotional -- especially with the essential oils! I've researched them like crazy and have so many bottles I have to keep buying more and more containers to hold them all! In fact right now I just put on a mix that includes wintergreen, marjoram, camphor, and several other eo's in an almond oil base -- it actually seems to really help the aches in my front thigh muscles. Also taking the same vitamins as you, as well as fish oil and Coenzyme Q10 (in ubiquinol form), both of which seem to have unexpectedly helped with my fatigue. Plan for little things to take care of ourselves just helps even in terms of mood -- something to look forward to, even if it's something as small as a few whiffs of lavender oil, a cup of tea with lemon, a positive book, and things like finding good people on forums such as these. 😃 Thanks so much for the uplifting response!

It sounds like you have a great array of essential oils, I am only quite new to using them and so far have only have sage, marjoram, peppermint, rosemary and lavender. Most of these are for calming and migraine I believe. It is a really interesting area to read about and the many uses for them. I have just started putting some oil in the corner of my shower each night, also in my diffuser when I am meditating and on my temples and neck before bedtime. Thank goodness for this forum, it is so wonderful to be able to connect with people going through similar issues and to share what things help. Take care of yourself and keep sniffing those oils!!!
