Fake hips - or does my bum look big in this?

Throughout a fairly horrendous last year I never really managed to lose my sense of humour completely.
From the incident with the canula in hospital bathroom that resulted in a scene from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to complaining to my partner in the early post op days that I felt like a beached whale (I looked up to see him dangling a frozen fish fillet above saying "Come on Shamu, you can do it".
One of the funniest things was when a friend and I were both walking with our crutches when we came upon a group of kids playing some kind of war game on a bank. They turned to look at us and we both raised a crutch, primed our weapon and 'shot' them all. They kindly obliged by dying quite dramatically. They ran off after but not before asking where they could get such an awsome weapon!
I wondered if anyone else had some funny stories to share - it's not all doom and gloom is it?

Humour is definitely healing for the soul
Whilst I was in hospital during the week, my best friend wrote comments on the roll of toilet paper advising me not to push, grit my teeth, you know real toilet humour.
She never told me, I found them
Made me laugh a lot

In in the early days after my op when I was using my "grabber" to pick things up and help me dress there was one morning when I felt particularly stiff and was having trouble getting my knickers on. My friend Maggie who staying with me at the time was in hysterics at the bedroom door watching me reaching down to position the knickers on the floor I couldn't seem to lift my operated leg up enough for me to pull the knickers up when I finally did the "grabber" kept slipping when I tried to pull them up. After much swearing and cursing I did it, only realising Maggie was there when I heard a round of applause and she was finally able to laugh out loud. We still have a good laugh about it. The "stick" now that's another story...............

I want to share one story :
One of my girlfriend's grandsons just turned 2 years ... when I was pre-op he just started to walk - you knwo, the wobbling, falling getting up etc... After my surgery he was walking like a little Speedy Gonzales - one morning, while I was getting out of my chair, he came and looked up at me with such kind and loving eyes (pity maybe) - grabbed me by my hand and gently pushed one leg forward and then the other ... I laughed so hard and then started crying .... I will never forget that ... hmm, I wonder what he will think when I have my other hip done ....
big hug

It shouldn't really make me laugh but my husband will insist on walking on my stick side. Each time he trips over it I find it funny, (he just curses "the stick") he won't learn though, still walks that side. 👫👫
i have a love/hate relationship with my stick!!!!!
