Fatigue

How many experience this? Is there anything I can do? I could take a nap every single day for hours and still be able to go to bed just fine at night. I take valium 2mg 3x daily so I wonder how much that contributes to me having no energy. I try to remember what it was like before the valium but I think I was tired then too because I had two big episodes of severe vertigo within 6 months of each other and between times I would have slight dizzy spells here and there. I do remember feeling better after I started treatment because I was getting outside and walking sometimes jogging! Now I don't want to do anything. Cook, clean, laundry...nothing! Not even shop! Don't get me wrong. I have good days where I'm like superwoman. I'll do 5 loads of laundry and clean up around the house...never happens on a weekend though. So I wonder...have I let myself just get lazy?? Again though, I can go to sleep anytime, anywhere with the tv blaring or the lights on....doesn't matter. That was NEVER me before. I was actually taking something to help me go to sleep at night but then I didn't really need it after the valium. I know it frustrates my husband and it frustrates me! How I wish I could go back to those days of being so active...after I started treatment I gained 10lbs. Unsure why because I had practically already been laid up for over 6 months...you would have thought that is when I would have gained weight. Maybe just age too though...I'll be 37 in July...I know everything starts slowing down and probably doesn't help that I'm slow as it is! On a side note I lost all hearing (nerves are totally dead) in my right ear and have constant tinnitus in it. Cutting out caffeine and these drops I take have drastically lowered the volume though. Also I'm now experiencing terrible headaches that include temple, ear, and sometimes cheek or neck pain. I start some physical therapy on Monday to see if they can teach me some techniques to keep my facial muscles relaxed and such. A specialist thinks I'm clenching my teeth at night. There is nothing structurally wrong with my jaw/teeth though...no misalignment. I had a 3D Panoramic Xray done and was checked over thoroughly. He thinks I have TMD...seems to be a big link between it and MD.

Wow!!!   All I can say is I have one half a clonazapam (similar to valium) probably once every 4 or 5 days and that just about knocks me out!!   The strength is only 0.5mg.  I cannot begin to imagine what 2mg, 3 x per day would do to me, other than put me in bed to continually sleep.  Have you thought about seeing your doctor and getting a revision on intake?  Sounds a massive amount to me.

Well I see him again in March and I'm going to talk to him about it. From what I have seen with others it's a pretty low dose but I take Wellbutrin also and now I'm taking a medicine for hand tremors. To be honest I just want off all of it! I could continue to do the drops and maybe just do the valium if/when I feel like an episode might be coming on because it seems like if it's gonna happen then it's gonna happen regardless. Maybe none of what I take has helped...maybe I'm just getting a "break" so to speak. It's all so confusing...especially now with this TMD diagnosis because that specialist of course thinks I may have been misdiagnosed with MD. However my Neurologist tends to agree with my Neurotologist on the MD. I haven't been able to see him since seeing this jaw doctor so I'm anxious to see what he has to say. Just tired of it all...literally!!

I have been taking Valium as well but I take a much higher dose. 7.5mg at 6:30am 2.5mg at 10:30am 2.5mg at 2:30pm and 7.5mg at 6:30pm. It made me tired the first few days of taking it but I have been on this amount since March 2013. It doesn't make me sleepy, lazy maybe but I try to get all my household stuff done before 10:00am that way I know it's gets done. I'm disabled from this disease and a bad back. I'm usually up at 5:30am and go to bed by 8:00pm I have 3 kids to get ready for school. I do get mood swings though.

Oh wow you do take a bit more. And you are right, I felt it in the beginning but i thought like a lot of side effects, it wore off and I got used to it. I'm not going to deny it...maybe I have gotten lazy but that is different from sleepy. To be able to lay down and sleep for hours...and when I wake up I feel so groggy! There are times.. mostly week days that I push through it just in case it does mess up my sleep at night but the weekend rolls around and you can guarantee I'm going to be in that bed at some point (probably both days) sound asleep!

I had meiners for 7 months straight and I was given 5mg of Valium it worked and then it wore off at 4 hours so the Ent added more till we got it right. I developed severe anxiety and panic attacks from it. I recently had my first attack in awhile but I believe it was from doing too much bending over and moving my head around, this time I was in the house for 11 days just to make sure I didn't have anymore attacks and I was nervous as heck to drive today but I did ok was wore out and took a nap but only an hour to help relax me.

Ive had to take Trazadon to sleep at night.Thinking about going back on Benzodiazapines also (ringing and ballance getting worse)

I was taking Trazadone but once I got on the valium I definitely didn't need it!

Did you develope Anxiety from the Valium or having the Menierers?

Valium is basically a sedative. If you really have Meniere's it will do nothing for that condition. It may be that your consultants are hoping you are among the 70% of sufferers who get better spontaneously. You should ask about Betahistine (SERC) which is a drug designed to reverse the increased pressure in your inner ear. apart from possible gastric irritation it is remarka

Um, according to what Ive read, the Vallium is the only drug (and other Benzodiazapines) that can reduce the vertigo. That and Meclazine (antivert), which Ive been eating like candy lately

I had been taking xanax, then klonopin for what I thought was panic attacks for many years. They were apparantly masking my early MD symptoms for years. When I stopped taking them, BAM. I got Shingles (probably a strees induced outbreak). That lasted for about a year! Spinning and dizzy also the whole time. Now the MD has come to the forefront (I have read Herpes (SHingles) can act as a catalyst of sorts also, bringing the MD full throtle.

      Just more notes and sharing.

Sorry hit the wrong key!! I was saying Betahistine is remarkably free of side effects and definitely non sedative. It is the drug that has helped me to be free of attacks for over 15 months now. If there is an Aural Physiologist consultant local to you that is the person most likely to clarify your diagnosis and get you on the correct regime.

I have a appointment with my Ent on the 23rd. I was told by not one by two Ent docs that Valium is a vestibular depressant and would stop the spinning sensation. I looked it up and it said it was one of the most prescribed drugs along with meclizine to control it. I have bradytacharydia so I can't take a lot of drugs, does this drug mess with your heart?

Also is says this drug is not available in the United States. If you google it

I have to wonder if these histamine phosphate drops I take are equivalent to what you are referencing. It is a compounded drug and is supposed to have the same effect that you mentioned. The valium has been found to be a vestibular suppressant much like meclizine but better...also lorazepam (ativan) can be used as well...they are basically the same but the valium seems to be the more used one. Regardless I'm going to talk to my doctor about weaning myself off the valium and just staying on the drops. Maybe just do the valium when it feels like an episode is coming on...for myself I can usually tell.
