Fatigue

How many experience this? Is there anything I can do? I could take a nap every single day for hours and still be able to go to bed just fine at night. I take valium 2mg 3x daily so I wonder how much that contributes to me having no energy. I try to remember what it was like before the valium but I think I was tired then too because I had two big episodes of severe vertigo within 6 months of each other and between times I would have slight dizzy spells here and there. I do remember feeling better after I started treatment because I was getting outside and walking sometimes jogging! Now I don't want to do anything. Cook, clean, laundry...nothing! Not even shop! Don't get me wrong. I have good days where I'm like superwoman. I'll do 5 loads of laundry and clean up around the house...never happens on a weekend though. So I wonder...have I let myself just get lazy?? Again though, I can go to sleep anytime, anywhere with the tv blaring or the lights on....doesn't matter. That was NEVER me before. I was actually taking something to help me go to sleep at night but then I didn't really need it after the valium. I know it frustrates my husband and it frustrates me! How I wish I could go back to those days of being so active...after I started treatment I gained 10lbs. Unsure why because I had practically already been laid up for over 6 months...you would have thought that is when I would have gained weight. Maybe just age too though...I'll be 37 in July...I know everything starts slowing down and probably doesn't help that I'm slow as it is! On a side note I lost all hearing (nerves are totally dead) in my right ear and have constant tinnitus in it. Cutting out caffeine and these drops I take have drastically lowered the volume though. Also I'm now experiencing terrible headaches that include temple, ear, and sometimes cheek or neck pain. I start some physical therapy on Monday to see if they can teach me some techniques to keep my facial muscles relaxed and such. A specialist thinks I'm clenching my teeth at night. There is nothing structurally wrong with my jaw/teeth though...no misalignment. I had a 3D Panoramic Xray done and was checked over thoroughly. He thinks I have TMD...seems to be a big link between it and MD.

Wow, that all sounds familiar except the temple pain. I too have clenched my teeth at night, cracked 3 teeth but better now. I had gone years not knowing what was hapening. After being diagnosed correctly, I no longer feel impending doom, clench MUCH less and breath better. I thought for year I was getting diabete, or heart trauble cause of the dizziness.

Do you drive ok? do you fall down if close eyes while walking?

I try to keep from driving at night...not only does it feel like I can't see, it makes me nauseous. Daytime isn't so bad but I don't go very far. I live about 20 minutes outside of Dallas TX so for any of my doctors appointments my husband always takes me. By the way...regarding the teeth clenching...I'm afraid that I may have spent $755.00 unnecessarily to see a TMJ specialist!!! Today was my second day of physical therapy that I decided to try first. The therapist said my neck and shoulders had knots all in them...Said it was the worst she had seen in awhile. I'm beginning to wonder if the chair I am sitting in has caused me to get in bad shape. I have terrible posture already. I'm just not convinced that I clench my teeth...yet.

I am beginning to think that Meniere's disease in general causes anxiety and that anxiety causes one to clench their teeth. I have noticed that since my diagnosis I don't clench my teeth are my best as much as I used to or hardly at all I think I had a lot of anxiety not knowing what was happening. Not sure if that's what you're experiencing or not but I used to always clench my teeth always always like I said crack them cuz I was just a nervous anxious guy still him but a little less so.

Thanks for the info about your driving. That's pretty much how I get around also. Unfortunately my wife doesn't drive. She is going to finally learn at age 56 when she's done getting her accounting degree lol. She realizes I'm going to need her to drive pretty soon this disease is just awful.

I asked my doctor yesterday when I went in if I could try valium for the spinning. Said no you might get addicted. Prescribe me some weird diuretic that cost $230 has all kinds of side effects I don't think I'll fill it. I think I'll stick with meclizine until I see the Ent.

      Hang in there

If you stay on a low dose of valium it shouldn't be a problem. And it's such a cheap drug...I pay a couple bucks for a 90 day supply.
