I have always enjoyed the outdoors, working in the yard, going for hikes in the woods. Last night my husband and I were talking about when I am healed going to one of my favorite places to hike, all of a sudden I got a flash of twisting my ankle and panic sat in. I could feel my heart start to race and my palms got sweaty. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

    Hi Lee !

So sorry to hear of your bad news. They are without compassion and they are just HORRIBLE. I'm not back at work and I would if I could and have already said I can work sitting down. There are no other positions in the company but I'm being messed around. I have a casual worker working my shifts and she told a friend of mine she had been put on permanently to fill my shifts and that they were now hers. This lass is doing my shifts but I have a signed contract. Work are getting my medical files about my break and then they are sending me to their doctor. It's all a joke !! It isn't a work related injury and someone is working my shifts so I have no idea what their problem is. I can't possibly stand on my feet to work and the pain is shocking at times. I've shown them my X-ray and they can see my ankle has plates and screws up the fibula and plates and screws up the tibia and 2 screws in the inner ankle bone and they were shocked and said how bad it was yet they insist on getting my report from the doctor. I have no idea what's going on but this also is taking its toll on my mental health. People need to go through this themselves and then they will know how it feels and that's all I can say. Walk in my shoes. Chin up lee and I hope something much better comes up for you. ☀️

Thank you. I am sorry your employer is being horrible as well. People have no idea how bad this really is, if they did they would be more compassionate. I actually had a friend ask me today if it really still hurt or if I was milking it. People just don't understand, but I can honestly say that I didn't before it happened to me. Since you have a contract will your employer have to find a place for you when you are able to return?

Well I think my job is still there for me at the moment but my ankle comes first. The work is very physically demanding as I'm a carer in aged care and it's running around, using lifting/ standing machines. Getting people up and out of bed etc and some are very heavy in weight. A lot of bending and walking involved. I would rather be back to normal than be like this. I've got to the stage though, if I lose my job, I will look for another one which is sitting down at a desk all day. I can only do what I can do at the moment. What type of job did you have Lee?

You are right, our ankles are more important. I was a server, so I spend 8 to 10 hours a day on my feet with no sitting. I don't know if I would have ever been able to do it again, but it still doesn't make what they did right. I can always find another job, I just want to be able to walk like a normal person again. I want my life back. I worked in healthcare a long time ago and I know how physically demanding it can be, please make sure you are healed before you go back.
