Feel like something stuck in my throat

Hi. I'm really hoping somebody can help me, can't find any discussions on here! For the last few months I've had a feeling of having something stuck at the base of my throat or like a lump. It's not there all the time and comes and goes. I went to visit the doc and she had a look but said couldn't see anything and all looked and felt good, but to be in the safe side would refer me to ent to have a look. So today, a month after seeing doc, I had a letter from hosp. I have an urgent appt in 5 days to be seen so that they can rule out more serious conditions such as cancer. This letter has completely freaked me out and I have been in tears all day and am now thinking I have some form of cancer! I'm a 41 yr old lady and a complete mess today as I can't phone or speak to anybody for assurance or advice!
Could my go have seen something and not told me??? Thankyou x

I'm just updating everyone, unfortunately for me still having symptoms just kind of learned to breathe through my thoughts.. I had the barium swallow an everything came back normal all blood test MRI an cat scans were normal as well so then what the heck right? I've had an ent doctor tell me I didn't need an endoscopy so I told my primary an he says hes going to refer me some place else.. that way i can get the endoscopy an put my mind at ease. I'm still taking meds to help me sleep due to me worrying myself until morning! haha .. just wanted to let you all know I'm still alive LOL some days are more extreme than others an some days I feel nothing. I'm currently waiting on insurance approval for my endoscopy, maybe waiting for 2 weeks I'm not sure but I hope you all are well.. good luck & GOD bless.

I feel as though I've been brushed off.. this has been extremely bad for my mental health. everyday I'm worrying an panicking. I've gone through many test.. I'm really hoping for an endoscopy soon! last time I went to an ent doctor he said "there isnt cause or need for endoscopy" well I dont feel that way an informed my primary, who has now referred me to another specialist in Hope's of getting the endoscopy. fingers crossed.. hope you have found a healthy way to cope.. praying for you!

Hi everyone
Unfortunately I’m joining this conversation as well as I’ve had this feeling of something stuck in my throat for the past week. Feels like there’s food in there that just won’t go away. I can swallow but it sometimes feels like food is going down my throat very slowly. It was better yesterday but I ate some peanuts and now it’s really bad again. It feels dry and a bit painful as well.
I have had trouble with acid reflux for the past year and had an endoscopy done about a month ago which showed nothing. I am taking esomeprazole twice a day and will see a doctor about this thing stuck in my throat tomorrow. I’m very worried I will soon not be able to eat 😦
Will come back with an update in case someone is interested

Hello Maria. it happened to me 2 years ago, and i was just as scared, and i truly feel like our symptoms Feed off of our emotions . I tried every remedy, I went to the doctors in the US and in Mexico, I tried meds and I was very desperate because it was not going away, I had a neck ultrasound, x-rays and finally got an endoscopy and showed nothing, after that i started praying about it because even if the test were normal i still felt it, and i went on vacation to see my fam, the happiness of been with my family, the distraction and my prayers helped me immensely. i havent felt it ever since... good luck

I am trying to reply to Missxejuu. I still feel like something is there, but it isn't quite as bad as it has been in the past. I have kept away from chocolate, tomato products, fried foods, vinegary things, coffee, highly acidic foods, etc., since June 2018. I think that has helped. I'm also taking a low does of Omeprezole once a day. It's discouraging though that it doesn't go completely away!

Hi..I had this a few years back for ages went to see consultant who put a tube up my nose, down my throat. It was all clear but inflamed, he said it was silent acid reflux. I took omeprazole for a while and it cleared up. I was very anxious too which made it worse, calming down helped too.

sadly i know the feeling well, its super common with anxiety. most people will get it at some point, its called globus hystericus. ive had it for many years, the critical thing is to not concentrate on it, i know thats hard though, its harmless
