Feel like something stuck in my throat

Hi. I'm really hoping somebody can help me, can't find any discussions on here!  For the last few months I've had a feeling of having something stuck at the base of my throat or like a lump. It's not there all the time and comes and goes. I went to visit the doc and she had a look but said couldn't see anything and all looked and felt good, but to be in the safe side would refer me to ent to have a look.   So today, a month after seeing doc, I had a letter from hosp.  I have an urgent appt in 5 days to be seen so that they can rule out more serious conditions such as cancer.  This letter has completely freaked me out and I have been in tears all day and am now thinking I have some form of cancer!   I'm a 41 yr old lady and a complete mess today as I can't phone or speak to anybody for assurance or advice!

Could my go have seen something and not told me??? Thankyou x

I’m 29 and have been getting test done for random acid reflux problems for a couple of months now. Only a couple of weeks ago I had two or three times where I thought I didn’t swallow correctly and had food stuck in my throat. Went away each night I had it until it seemed to get worse and now feels like a ball or lump is stuck in my throat.

Went to the emergency where they did some scans and swabbed my throat and found nothing. They gave me a shot of steroids and some steroid pills to take for they next few days and I thought it was slowly helping, but right now I’m miserable and can’t even sleep because the “lump” feels bigger and worse then it did earlier.  Scared to eat solid foods,  and just living on a liquid diet for now.

Really hope you guys that stopped posting had treatment that worked and that’s why you stopped. It’s a little comforting seeing I’m not alone in this, and I’m trying really hard to stay strong and not panic.

I have found that getting rid of fried foods, no acidic juices, no tomato based foods, no chocolate, and no coffee helped tremendously.  I still was having some throat issues (although the feeling of something stuck was gone), so I went to the health food store for advice.  They said drinking aloe Vera juice would help.  So I've been trying that (about 1-2 oz per day) and it is greatly improved.  My next scope is mid August.  I am truly hoping that by that time I'll be healed.  I am trying hard!  The health food store also had a supplement that they highly recommended, but it was $40 for 45 pills.  I was not ready to try that yet.

I still after a year feel like I have phlegm all the time even though the globus feeling has gone, what was the supplement that they recommended?

I’ve just started taking limonene, meant to be good for acid reflux.

Hii Katie I had the same problem.. Now it is cured not by taking any medicines. But by doing neck exercises and neti it is an Indian treatment... Drink lots of water with little bit of salt mixed in it.. Atleast 4-5 glasses empty stomach early in the morning and then vomit it out do it atleast thrice a week and you will see the change.

Just not sure I really fancy being sick! I’m glad it worked for you but it won’t fix my sphincter

I’ve been reading a lot about this.  Could be a hiatal hernia, or acid reflux/ LPR, I’ll ask my gastro doctor about these and hopefully they can test for them.

Hiya, mine is to do with acid reflux unfortunately, I have a loose sphincter 🙄

Gloss syndrome. Go to "Reflux Gate : article The 12 most unrecognized reflux problems - then go to Numder 5: Globus Syndrome . It's all about the sphincter . A gas is released thru this sphincter causing a reaction to the throat which leaves a swelling there just enough to cause the sensation. I read an article interview from specialist who said most Dr.s didn't know about it. The article I read took me to the page listed above. I have this now and just looked till I found the answer hope all is helped by this.

Hey katie, I to am looking for ways to avoid surgery an meds haha so I was thinking maybe not speaking for an entire week haha.. I have two kids though 🙄🤣 so basically I’m alwaysayung things “sit down” “eat your food” “don’t touch that it’s filthy” “why are you crying” blah blah blah 😩🤷🏽??? Not sure if I’ll be able to do it but it’s an idea.. maybe you could give it a try?

😂😂 I’d say impossible 😂 it was shouting at my kids that seem to trigger off my throat thing in the first place!!!

I have 4 and a husband so shouting all day is necessary 🤪

Have you had any investigations to see what’s wrong? Do you get acid or just globus at the moment?

🤣 Lol so true haha.. I definitely get acid too also when I don’t feel it in my throat my chest seems to feels tight an burny.. haven’t been to a specialist just yet I go in about five days.. currently no glubus as of now this second I’m totally changing up my ways of eating as well.. how often do you get this horrible globus demon troll (😂wink does it get better or worse for you at night or morning?

😂😂 my troll has gone!! Took a year but it went!! No globus but just a constant feeling of phlegm is stuck.

Let me know how you get on with the consultant and what they think! Diet helps massively but so does stress play a massive part in that, I’m really good at that part 🤪
