hi, so im 15 years old and i been on prednisone since september of this year. I was on 40 mg and now im down to 20mg and im going to discontinue the drug soon. I am taking prednisone for Crohns disease and they work, but they caused me to have anxiety, depression, dizziness, lightheadness, headaches, mood swings, and i had to get glasses because it effected with my eye sight. Does anyone know how long it would take for me to feel normal again after discontinuance of prednisone. and did anyone experience this too, or am i going crazy?

Hi, I found your post searching out The exact same symptoms. I just came off a weeklong prescription of prednisone for a allergic reaction. I have processes. Which I have been on prednisone before. But I’ve never felt this awful after coming off of them. So my question is how long did it take before you started to feel some relief or a bit normal again? I feel like crying

    hi!

I know this is an old thread but I am struggling. I was on a 10 day taper of pred and have been off for 5 weeks. My heart rate is consistently very high, I have no appetite, major anxiety and depression. How long does this last? Can anyone give me advice? I feel so broken and lost. I want to feel like myself again. Any help would be wonderful.

    Thank you,

    Lauren

I took Prednisone from Tuesday October 8, 2019 to Monday October 14, 2019. I was taking 20 mg per day. After my prescribed duration, I experienced withdrawal symptoms such as fatigue, irregular heartbeat feeling (pounding and rapid), trouble sleeping, dry mouth and eyes, indigestion feeling, gastritis (gnawling feeling), rage (rushing to cook food and eat), increased appetite, hyperness, mood swings, severe anxiety and depression.

It is currently December, I am still experiencing symptoms such as dry mouth, puffy eyes, indigestion feeling but have slow bowel movements, gastritis, rapid heartbeat, trouble sleeping, depression and anxiety. I recently started experiencing upper abdominal discomfort feeling in chest and back. Hopefully, this is just gas.

If I had a do over, I regret taking this medication. This drug disrupts my excitement of life in many ways. I pray that others and I feel better soon. I researched online that Predisone withdrawal can last from several weeks to 12 months. This period depends on how long you was taking the drug and the dosage. Prayer helps me.

Thank you for sharing your experience. This drug is awful. It has impacted my health and quality of life so greatly! I also regret taking it. I pray we all heal soon and can get back to feeling like our normal selves. It's been 7 weeks and I still have increased heart beat, anxiety, brain fog, and overall not feeling well.

I have been off of the medicine for 7 weeks and still don't feel normal. Doctors keep saying it's not the prednisone but it's the only thing that makes sense. It's SO frustrating having these symptoms all of the time! Any help and prayers would be appreciated 😃

Hi Conner, they just prescribed me the medication and didn't mention anything about tapering it. I went to an immediate care because of an horrible ear pain feeling while I was in the process of trying to find a primary doctor. About a month after taking prednisone, I started to experiencing serious withdrawal. I went to a digestive liver doctor because of my digestive system (indigestion feeling) and he ask me what medications were you taking and I mention prednisone. He told me that this is probably the reason you are experiencing these withdrawals. So, It made me dig further research about prednisone and he was right. I never went back to that immediate center again nor did I tapered it down. I am just suffering from the withdrawals while hoping for the best. It is hard and I regret it.
