Feeling horrible after been on the steroid prednisone

Hi all , wonder if anyone can help .. I was put on prednisone steroid for 5 days after I went to my doctor last Thursday wif a cough and slightly tight chest .. I was on 8 tabs a day and I'm sure they were 5mg .. I finished them on Monday past .. Since Sunday tho I have been feeling quite weird like my whole body is aching and I just don't feel normal my legs r the worst wif really bad pains like I have ran a marathon and feel really hot and just like i have flu I'm usually fit and healthy so to be feeling like this is making me feel anxious .. I did read that this steroid can have these effects .wish I never started them now tho as hate feeling like this so glad there finished , just wondered if anyone else had any of these feelings wif it ? doctor told me to take prednisone 20mg for 7 days for bronchitis after my third day i had to stop i been to the er 3 times i had every side effect you said except headache i feel bad an cant sleep with sleep aid an then only for a couple hours can anyone tell me how long till ill get better

Hi,
I only take them if absolutely necessary.
I have 5mg, 8 a day for 5 days which I keep in stock all the time in case the need arises.
I also keep a course of Amoxicillin antibiotics & a Ventolin inhaler. its known as a rescue pack & thankfully I rarely need them.
However the odd occasion has occurred & the prednisolone make me feel so full if energy for a few days but when the course ends I feel shakey & weird, like a zombie.
It usually settles & am back to my normal self after about 3 - 5 days after stopping them at the end of the 5 day course.

im working on my third day without taking the pills 20mg 7 days. i stop taking them on the third day of the 7 day cycle when will i start feeling better

Hi Daniel, I don't like pred ether. You must be going through the withdraws. It probably going to take several weeks or may be sooner like 4 weeks. I hope you feel better soon.
In my case, I still don't feel normal. I dry eyes and mouth. I have gastritis. Pred irritated the lining of my esophagus. It also has made me harder to breathe so far as my resting breath.
I rather suffer the effects that to get back on it though.

er doctor told me withdrawls should only last couple more days since i only took em for 3 days. how long was you taking them before you stop he ensured me it wouldnt take that long

i given them for acute bronchitis from a clinic 20mg 7 days stop at day 3 been off for 3 days. shouldve went to er but no didnt wont to sit an wait smh how long was you taking them before you stop an have you got better from some of the with drawls

I actually took them for 7 days. The duration. I felt terrible for about 7 weeks from withdrawals. I have felt a little better but not normal. I still have dry eyes, extreme fatigue, and gastritis.
My advice is
Try to detox the pred out by bone broth or detoxing herbal tea.
Take some vitiman D_3, A, K^2 for fatigue.
Eat a bunch of protein, vegtables, and water.
Pred weakens immunity.
This is just for help, but won't solve problems.

Also, don't get back on it no matter the withdrawals because you may experience more. You doctor may tell you to taper but it is risky. That is why quit cold turkey and detoxing may be the reasonable option.

The mood swings went away, anxiety is still happening (up to the roof) and I guess that won't stop until things get better than it is now. The muscle weakness improved.

doctor told it was only gone be a couple days because i only use them for 3 days do you think it will help that i did not finish the 7 days an how many days past when u seen improvement

Honestly, You are doing the right thing now. Don't continue taking it because it could be worse. Serious withdrawals went away within 4 weeks.

That’s good. I believe that the longer your’re off of the pred the better you will feel.

Honestly, I had trouble sleeping at night so I sleep during the day because it was easier. After 2 weeks I start back getting more sleep.

I honestly felt the same way yo. Thats not cool how they will be so quick to prescribe you something but don't know if its the right med for you. I hated Pred. It affected me greatly too.
