Hi all , wonder if anyone can help .. I was put on prednisone steroid for 5 days after I went to my doctor last Thursday wif a cough and slightly tight chest .. I was on 8 tabs a day and I'm sure they were 5mg .. I finished them on Monday past .. Since Sunday tho I have been feeling quite weird like my whole body is aching and I just don't feel normal my legs r the worst wif really bad pains like I have ran a marathon and feel really hot and just like i have flu I'm usually fit and healthy so to be feeling like this is making me feel anxious .. I did read that this steroid can have these effects .wish I never started them now tho as hate feeling like this so glad there finished , just wondered if anyone else had any of these feelings wif it ? Thank u X

It's been 3 months since I have been of prednisone. I have still have a fatigue feeling, fast heart beat at times, heavy chest feeling, shallow breathing feeling, and uncontrollable hunger. I dislike pred. Hopefully, we will get back normal soon.

Just so you know there are studies showing activated charcoal removes corticosteroids from the body.

This is another update from my previous post. I've got to say that after nearly 18 months my body has started to feel much calmer the past few days. Every few months it seems like I reach a new threshold where the side effects get noticeably weaker. Maybe this nightmare is almost over. I even notice a big difference compared to a month ago after all this time.

That’s great that you are start to feel normal. I hope we all can continue to improve. Pred is a not so great drug.

Some foods can trigger it. I ate some hot salsa last night and immediately got a rush of side effects including the tightening in my bones. Today my face is bloated again along with some shallow breathing and fast heartbeat. I guess no more salsa from now on.

Today is better than the past few days, not many side effects so far. Keep in mind you are unlikely to be sick as long as I've been and most get better around 8 months, it's only lasted this long because of how ridiculously strong my body reacted to the drug.

I've been on 30 mg for 5 days and 20 mg the following then stopped on doctor recommendation since I told him my wife was sick. I stopped to avoid any infection since prednisone weakens the immune system and an infection could be very serious.
Today's day 3 after I stopped and I feel like hell. Chest pain, headache, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, loss of taste, flu like sensation etc. Doctor says I'm ok and should take prilosec and nasal spray.
Will never ever take prednisone again. I'm like not conscious of myself.

you are just at the start of it next 2 weeks will probably be hell . and if your like some of us on here . have a very long road ahead. I watch some videos last night .they said 1 in 30 people will have side effects lasting over a year . the long your off the better it will get . like today was hell for me could not even walk to my gate .keep in mind I'm 33 years old healthy never had any medical problems caught a sinus infection. they put me on prednisone. took it for 5 days . and have never been the same. now it's been 8 months still have problems ughh

Some people get better in a month, severe cases take 1-2 years. I have read many accounts on another site and everyone gets better, all that matters is time. My case was much more severe than you or anyone else posting here and now at 20 months the side effects are maybe just 15% of what they were the first couple months.

Start taking activated charcoal to remove the drug from the body.
