    Morning Kirsty

sorry to hear your so down, and I'm happy to hear you have a loving family to help.

im on Amitriptline I'm now only on 75mg a day (1 in morning 2 at night) was on 150mg a day. Yes not good. But they did help a lot, for the pain an depression,  an they do help you sleep too,  I hope that bit of info does help,  I've had fibo 10yrs or more.  And so wished more people under stood it, especially my sons! But good luck and hope not too long await for your appointment x

kirsty , does yourGP understand fibro? not all are sympathetic are they? the down days are really bad arnt they? i find it so hard to explain to other people , do you ?

Hi Donna I dnt they do to be honest. This gp I am seeing now seems to be sympathetic he. They just keep telling me tho I have to wait to see the specialist to get the right medication..

Yes it is so annoying when you have the down days especially when you can't shift them. My husband seems to understand most of the time he is really supportive but it is so frustrating dives me mad xxx

Not living in the UK I don't know your medical system, but when I was living in the USA, was when I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and you know how costly things are there.  I found I could not take most medications used for the illness, including Amitriptyline, because they all made me so sleepy I couldn't function throughout the day.  At that point in my life I felt so old, and I wasn't even 50. My neurologist at the time suggested acupuncture, also a costly venture, but it was so well worth it.  After a few visits I felt as though I no longer had fibromyalgia.  I wish I could still go.

Now that I live in Poland, I don't have access to this service close by to my town.  The doctors here have me on an anti-inflammatory called Olfen Uno 500 mg per day which does help a lot, but probably would not be good for you and your kidneys.  Acupuncture, however, could possibly help you tremendously.  It could make your kidneys stronger and help your fibromyalgia.  If you feel as badly as I did, anything is worth a try.
