Feeling low. Struggling at the moment.

Have been having to treat daily with clob to try and prevent my urethra from fusing totally.  Now on top of that I have an infection and am constantly on the loo.  I do not normally have infections.  Only ever had one once when I was pregnant.  I know that things are going to flare if I am not careful.  Started antibiotics tonight so hopefully things will improve with those.  Due to go on holiday this weekend and we are camping so I hope things settle as I do not fancy running back and forward to the loo (antibiotics give me the runs sometimes as well).  Just weary with all the problems I have at the moment and fancied a winge.  Drinking plenty to try to flush my system.  I found a nurse at my practice who knew all about ls and we had a good chat about things.  She offered to check me whenever I wanted if I was worried about anything.  Instead of being happy with that I have left the surgery feeling very down.  Don't know why!  Just this horrible disease. blah blah blah...........I think I've winged enough.  Sorry everyone...

    Hi everyone,

Went to see the GP on Friday, not so good.  Fusing not stopped so she is referring me to Gynae/Uroligist specialist to see if they can help me.  Waiting for appt now.  Things are getting slightly tighter this weekend.

      Hi Chrisy

Was wondering what your GP had to say, let's hope your not waiting long before your referral and the specialist will then get you sorted, I'm sure your lovely husband is taking good care of you Xx

Chrisy, you can get dilators in packs of 5 different sizes and used regularly, just in the entrance area, they do help to keep a manageable gap open. I got mine on the internet.  If you are sore inside the opening you do need to take your time and be very gentle also using lubrication.

      Sounds pretty uncomfortable.

Just sharing a bit of my experience when totally fused over last year October:  The gyno suggested a dilation procedure for which I went. (I was against cutting)  Best thing he could have done.  After that I had to keep dilating.  Ordered a set from Amazon at the time.  Introduced the baking soda rinse and bath and coconut oil for moisture.  Haven't looked back since.  Almost as good as new now.

Wishing you the best gyno there is, who hopefully will hand you the best tools possible.

Hi everyone,  Thankyou for your thoughts.  Had a few days to think about everything.  Got my appointment this morning for 21/10/2015.  Am waiting for GP to call me as I think this is too long and I want her to expediate things.  I have also been told I am on list for end of October to go in for another operation on my other foot which I have been waiting for a while for so I am so worried I will not be able to get the treatment I need before my foot op.  I was housebound for 7 weeks last time when I had my first foot done.  I do not want to be in need of emergency treatment and unable to go to hospital.  I will have to wait till tomorrow to find out if the doctor can help me speed things up as she is not in today.

Thankyou Hanny for those details. It is calming to think that I can sort things out.  Am using the coconut oil and bicarb soaks.  Just doesn't seem to be reversing things.

Absolute joke Chrisy that date is far to long to wait, maybe you should just go straight to the hospital to A E they would have to see you then.

Didn't realise you had a problem with your foot really hope that gets sorted to.

When you get to our age it seems if it's not one thing it's another

Good luck with the hospital sending you lots of hugs Xx

Lots of hugs from me too Chrisy. You have more than your fair share to put up with bless you. how all goes to plan with your foot procedure and that the Dr is able to get the hospital to put a wriggle on. Let us know how you get on lovely lady. Xx

I remember when you were recovering from the first foot surgery. I can well imagine how badly you just want it over with!

I too hope yu get an app't a lot sooner.  You would think that they would consider your special circumstances with your foot operation .

I hope Chrisy that you can muster the determination to keep doing bicarba and coconut oil.  It is not a quick fix. As with all about LS.  Hang in girl.  D

Hold in there, waiting is normally far worse than the event. Foot surgery is one of the least enjoyable procedures the medics can inflict on us, as you know. Hopefully your gp can bring things forward for you, otherwise try phoning the consultants secretary, get the clinic's switch board to put you thro. Normally clinics are held on the same day of the week and same slot in the day ie morning or afternoon, and the secretariat is on hand for the referral letters to be written. Good luck  fingers crossed you get what you want

      Hi Karen,

      Thanks for the hugs x

Finally got things sorted.  I have an appointment on Wednesday morning so things are moving at last.

I suffer plantar facitis severly on both feet caused by flat feet from years of walking for a living and standing.  I also have extra bones in my feet which I am told is common but normally doesn't cause problems. For me the bones have started rubbing on tendons which are not in the correct place.  This is causing me extreme pain when I walk any distance.  I also have developed a bunion on my right foot so I am having eveything corrected.

I had a foot reconstruction last November and have been waiting since for that to heal so that I can have the other foot operated on.  They have told me that everything is now strong enough and I will be on the list for the end of October.  Said that last time but I didn't get the operation until 19th November.  Still at least I am on the list this time.  The first time I waited 6 months before I rang to see when it would likely be and I was told that I wasn't even on the list.  Sometimes I think the incompetence of some of the Secretaries is what causes most of the problems in the hospitals.  Need to get things sorted as soon as poss in case though.

I think it is worse for my hubby Morrell.  He was wonderful last time but after admitted that it stressed him a great deal.  He had to do so much for me.  I took me 7 weeks to be out of the non weight bearing cast and into a walking boot so I could help him.  I couldn't even get upstairs.  Still at least this time I am fore warned.  I will move everything around to make life easier.  I will be glad when the op is over as I know then it can only get better.

Anyway good luck for Wednesday Chrisy will be thinking of you Xx

Hi Karen,  Thankyou for your kindness. Your daughter is right. I wore toe posts and flip flops for years but they actually made my fallen arches worse.  You should go see your doctor who can refer you to a podiatrist or a chiropodist.  You may benefit from shoe insoles which help you walk without pain or maybe something else could help you. The hard skin is caused by wearing sandals.  Your skin on your feet dry out and can crack and become quite sore.  I notice that my feet always improve over winter when I don't wear sandals. My feet were wonderful this year as I have not walked very much and I am moisturising frequently. If you moisturise your feet daily and try to remove the hard skin with one of the foot care items designed for this your feet will improve.  A chiropodist will do this for you if it is too difficult.  I paid £25.00 last year for 1/2 hour treatment by one who made my feet feel wonderful.  I had to wear a brace on one foot to keep my ankle supported and stop the foot falling inwards causing me to be knock kneed which was one of many reasons why I had my first foot op.  Now I need the other foot done to stop the same problem and for the bunion problem.  I have back problems as well caused by my poor stance and walking problems.  I am hoping things will improve after this one.  The podiatrist can also advise you on what footwear you can purchase to help with the width problem.  They sent my shoes away to have the heels built up to help stop my knock knees.  You wouldn't notice looking at them.  They can do wonderful things now.  The shoes are so much better than they used to be.  They convert your own shoes so you have much more choice in the design.  If you can't get any shoes to fit they can hopefully get some made to measure for you.

As they say - nothing ventured, nothing gained.

      Hi Chrisy

One other thing I have noticed is I'm piling on weight I have so called irritable bowel and especially round my middle and my boobs Iv gone up in sizes, do you have this problem Xx

    • Posted

I have irritable bowel too and yes I put a lot of weight around my middle and on my boobs.  They say the weight around your middle is what causes problems like my diabetes as it produces hormones apparently.  I have joined a slimming club and am dieting.  Have lost 1 stone and 1 pound but it is slow going over the past 12 weeks.  I have noticed that the weight I have lost seems to have left my boobs mostly.  I am not normally that well endowed and they are very untoned now so I am trying some exercises to firm things up.  I don't want to end up looking like a wrinkly bag.  I have noticed that if I give up eating bread and cakes/carbohydrates altogether I do tend to lose weight.  I still eat potatoes, rice and pasta; all cooked healthily, no fat or creamy/cheesy sauces.  This makes your calorie intake much much lower.  Easier than counting points, sins, calories or whatever they call them.  Just have to cut down more on the drinking now to increase my weight loss...he he!!.

Thanks for that Chrisy all this weight is really depressing along with everything else, hope your okay love and soon get that appointment through,

Been shopping this weekend to get my daughter her things for uni she has gone out tonight for a meal with her friends I'm feeling rather sad gonna be so lonely, she's been my strength going through this divorce which still isn't sorted X

You will find your own strength Karen.  My daughter lives hundreds of miles away and I do miss her even though I have my husband.  There are things you can do with your daughter that a man does not want to do.  You can maybe look forward to visiting her if you can.  Is she going to a nearby university or is it too far away?  I hope she will call you often to keep you updated with all that is happening.

I joined a local womens support group and started volunteering for them.  Helping others helped me greatly with filling in my time and led to my having a teaching job until my feet put paid to that.  I will be going back to that eventually I hope. Your local library is a great place to find any local groups that you may be interested in.  I also find great friendship at the local slimming club I joined.  You will start to fill in your time and will start focusing on making your life fun again.  I even now meet some of the ladies from slimming on another morning for coffee when we support each other in our weight loss.  We also have coffee mornings to raise money for charity.  I can get rid of my urges to cook and bake this way.  I just have to learn how to resist the produce I makeredface!!!!

For me the knack of having a good life I find is to have a winge, get it out of my system, then get on with trying to solve the problem with a little advice from my friends, which you can take or ignore, that is why this site is awesome.  It supplies everything we need.  Wishing you well Karen. x

I'm having a scan of my bladder and kidneys on the 26th October, so that means my dilation op won't be before my feet so I will have to delay that op.frown So frustrating.
