Feeling low. Struggling at the moment.

Have been having to treat daily with clob to try and prevent my urethra from fusing totally. Now on top of that I have an infection and am constantly on the loo. I do not normally have infections. Only ever had one once when I was pregnant. I know that things are going to flare if I am not careful. Started antibiotics tonight so hopefully things will improve with those. Due to go on holiday this weekend and we are camping so I hope things settle as I do not fancy running back and forward to the loo (antibiotics give me the runs sometimes as well). Just weary with all the problems I have at the moment and fancied a winge. Drinking plenty to try to flush my system. I found a nurse at my practice who knew all about ls and we had a good chat about things. She offered to check me whenever I wanted if I was worried about anything. Instead of being happy with that I have left the surgery feeling very down. Don't know why! Just this horrible disease. blah blah blah...........I think I've winged enough. Sorry everyone...

I am so sorry for your discomfort and pain.
LS is a horrid disease and I too am just learning basic remedies to ease the suffering and pain.
Mine is all perianal and hope it does not spread to the vulva etc.
I use the clobestisol three times a day, which may be excessive. However it gives me peace of mind that it may prevent further complications.
Do you have sufficient medical providers?

i too am a newbie to this site but having read all threads and listened to a lecture on LS i learned one of the most important things we can do is use the steroid exactly as prescribed, not just that but it is essential to rub it in for 90 secon so that some of it can penetrate the deep layers of skin where the inflamation lies. Apparently only about 30% absorption takes place at the best. Also when the symptoms subside or go, NEVER leave off using the steroid cream, always use it once or twice a week to keep at bay, i truly hope you manage to keep it away from your vulva.

And of course I don't leave home without the glob. A small amount is sometimes necessary twice a week.

you are probably on hols now, let us know how it went. I too was so touched by the concern and kindness shown on this site by all the lovely ladies. Its SO good to know there are others out there who know EXACTLY how we feel and what we have to contend with. The wealth of information shared is invaluable too - get precious little from the proffessionals in my experience.

Well holiday over. Came back a day early as the weather yesterday was not too clever and we picked a time when our camping gear was dry, packed up and came home. We travelled over a thousand miles sight seeing. We saw some awesome sights, met some lovely people. Met a lovely lady who has written a book about her Mother and dealing with dementia....Mary Garrity. If anyone has dealings with that it may be a nice read. I am a tenth through the book which seems a good read so far.
Well the Ls has been slightly temperamental but I have managed to prevent total flare up. Camping was fine with the porta loo. UTI has cleared up. Was just so damned cold at night we went and bought a portable heater. Glad we had an electric hook up. Am booking an appointment with GP though as I am now spraying instead of peeing in a heavy stream. I think things have progressed slightly. Am petrified about that. Will keep you all posted.
Thanks to Suedm for advice about the live yogurt. I have managed to avoid the runs this time. Will remember that if I ever need the antibiotics for anything again. Great advice.

SO glad you had such a good time and you didn't let this hateful condition spoil your hols.
I'm a 'sprayer' or was until very recently where I have really concentrated on rubbing the Dermavate into the skin. Now it is greatly improved. If only I'd found this site early I may still have labia minors and a clitoris who knows but I'm fighting hard to keep the urethra from getting covered. The consultant noticed the urethra was affected and asked me if its was causing problems said to let him no straight away if I start having difficulties . I guess it will be surgery then. If that happens ill be asking to get all my bits back too not just the urethra though obviously that's essential. I've found washing after every wee, rubbing in the cream for 90 seconds has definitely strengthened the skin and skin is losing the whiteness and more healthy pink colour. If only I'd been told this by the specialists ! GRRRRRR. Let us know how you get on Chrissy xx

Hope your urethra returns to normal - on another thread someone was talking about spraying too (sometimes i find i have wet the floor by weeing under the loo seat.....hurrumph...now i have to sit in an undignified angle....sigh!)
Best wishes Sue

You must be a special lady to work with demetia patients. They need so much patience. I hope your grand daughters' birthday party goes well. You have a busy week in store. I used to love my daughters birthday parties. Her friends were amazing. They used to love music and some played instruments. Lovely times. I would cook a storm for them. The lads especially used to love it and there would be some goody bags for them to take home. They never ever caused me any trouble, and the house always survived the night. Happy days!!
Speak soon. Chrisy x
