Don't get to down Denise it's early days and you have a long way to go,you will have good and bad days you just need to ask yourself if you were worse before op, I am still having few problems 17 weeks on but even so pain is nothing to what I had before I just have bit of nerve trouble but hoping it won't ne long till completely pain free. I am lot better than before and still holing on to day when COMPLETELY pain free just keep your chin up xx

Ahhhh no darling no-one minds as most of us have been there feeling like you atm.

I promise you it will get better. It's very early days & I had all these emotions that you are having. I was sobbing as some of my family didn't buy get well cards, I was overlooking the fact they were staying with me & taking care of me which was really selfish of me but I could only see my point of view. Like I said 5th week & feeling so much more positive & no tears.

I live Newbury Berkshire. Where are you ?

Chin up we know how you feel . As I wasn't in constant pain before and am aching more now I wonder if it was worth it even tho surgeon told me my hip was in a dreadful state and no cartilage left . I am a carer for my dad and it is so frustrating when I can't do things . However I do feel more relaxed than I did before as I can't clean up etc so why worry about it . Going back for 6 week check up on we'd hope they can reassure me aches and pains are normal . X

    Hi Denise..

Its not a mental health issue at all..major surgery is more traumatic than most people could ever imagine..it's physically and mentally draining, coupled with as you say not being able to do the things which keep most of us feeling alive.

Nobody can really help with the mental side, you just have to hang on in for the next few long weeks..and tell yourself things will get better, and they do!

Im 3wks post op and only just starting to see an improvement..

Just getting out walking down the street were a big help to me.

    Time does heal.

Don't worry Denise, we've all got mental hea.lth issues after this op, it has that affect on your body. We all feel helpless as we aren't able to do what we did before but you need to give it time, I'm 5 wks post op and only just today have been able to hoover and dusted Sunday etc etc. I am improving day by day and week by week but not able to do everything yet and it is frustrating, I'm locked in my house never mind my room and don't see anyone for days so I don't have to lock myself in my bedroom and I have no-one to shout at well only on the phone but have ups and downs and cry at the drop of a hat. However my leg is better than it was pre op as I couldn't stand on it at all then. Give yourself time and don't beat yourself up, you are normal.

Hi Mary, yes that's right, but think maybe that's the best way after op as I can't shower or bath etc. Lol thoughif i had someone here i could try shower but even if i can wash it, i can't dry it. I'm seeing my consultant this Thurs for 6 WK check and I'm hoping he'll tell me I can drive, shower and do everything again.. I have same problem with my unoperated leg so can't walk for long on it without sitting down and I have a lot of pain in that leg and still on painkillers for that leg. I have my cats which are great company and everything at mid waist level, so can sleep when I want, walk around when I want and not bother anyone else.

    Hi Denise

Dont worry about posting that......we've all been through it ......some time or other during our recovery.

It will pass and is normal even if that doesnt help you at the minute
