Feeling of burp stuck in back of throat and in diaphragm

Does anyone experience a feeling of a burp or lump stuck in the back of throat that also is felt in the diaphragm at times either simultaneously or separately. It’s usually worse after eating and comes and goes. Burping doesn’t reallt relieve it. I’m just trying to figure out if this is just acid reflux or something more like a motility issue where my food isn’t going down properly. It started a two months ago just in my diaphragm and slowly moved up to my throat as well. The pressure is no longer as bad in my diapraghm but is still there at times especially after eating. My diet had been very bland this whole time but I am

Able to eat more then I could in the beginning. I occasionally have heartburn but this feeling is different just a lump in the throat or pressure in the diaphragm like a trapped burp.  I also experience a lot of phlegm and pressure in my ears when I feel the lump in my throat. I just want to make sure it’s not something more the acid reflux so I don’t get back on a ppi unnecessarily.

i am having the exact same symptoms and also when i burp, i get food regurgitation. what i ate previously comes back up in the back of my throat and i have to reswallow it. sometimes it feels like food is stuck in the back of my throat and sitting in the dead center of my upper epigastric region. its like all the food isnt going into my stomach. i am on Dexilant 60 mg and i still have these symptoms. the burps/air getting stuck in throat and center of diaphram started in November and i am still having it. so ive been dealing with that for 3 full months. ive had 2 endoscopies, Ct scan, mri, esophageal manometry, and colonoscopy and all tests have came back normal. this is driving me up the wall and im desperate to get relief. i have been thinking of going to an esophageal specialist out of my state. are there any updates from anyone? has anyone found out what this is?

    Hi

I hope everything is good with everyone

I took Doxycycline only 4 times in two days for throat inflammation

I’m suffering since that * 8 days now* with burping and sometimes I Can't burp I feel like there is something trapped the gas in my esophagus especially when laying down or after drinking water and now I feel like my tongue shaking and can't talk probably I did endoscopy and nothing wrong in my esophagus …. I went to 2 doctors I don’t know what to do.

I was wondering if you found any relief yet? My problems have been almost exactly the same. Have had two Endoscopies with dilation and have multiple CT scans, MRis, XRAYs and ect. My throat often gets phlegmy after eating and i feeel the urge to spit a lot. Also it is as if there is a burp stuck in my esophagus and I feel the urge to burp. Sometimes its as if the air in my esophagus feels out of balance and i just wanna blow it out. All if the tests that have been done as well as blood tests have come back normal. Anyway thanks for reading if you do and if you have figured out your problem I would love to hear it. Thanks!

I feel the lump in my throat which actually reduced when I burp. I also experience phlegm at times when I eat something out of GERD diet List. You will probably be taking PPIs. When I take PPIs my symptoms reduce significantly.

It's been a year since my GI issues started and they're all very similar to yours, based on what I read. The trapped burp in the throat, all the way down to upper GI is a daily occurrence for me. What actually made me want to reply to you is when I read about your weight loss. I've lost over 20 lbs and no one can explain why, nor do they even look like they care to. I was diagnosed with mild SIBO a few weeks ago. The only thing that has come back positive. I've done everything else, about a dozen tests, all negative. It's been a difficult year to say the least and now after being failed by all doctors I'm working with a holistic nutritionist to see if any of the natural remedies and supplements work. Not a lot of improvements yet. Just incremental. Have you made any progress? Any updates?

    Hi!!

Exact same symptoms here for a year and a half and still haven't figured out. the air stuck up in the throat, ears get clogged and a lot of shortness of breath with it. I didnt feel much heartburn in the beginning but i do now. no doctor seem to have the smallest idea what i'm talkin about.

has anyone figured it out yet or find any relief?

    thanks !!

I'm dealing with the same thing! The clogged ears are the worst. I read that reflux can reach your ears and cause this. I've tried PPI's and they haven't helped.

I too agree it's globus pharyngeus especially if other tests are coming up negative. It's often caused by stress/anxiety.

An antidepressant may help with symptoms.

I have all of the same symptoms. They seemed be caused by red meat/alcohol as they'd always come on for 2 days at a time after going for a meal/drinks. I had gone a couple of weeks without the symptoms but they just woke me up despite not having red meat or alcohol yesterday. it's a long shot but the only thing I can now link food-wise between consumption and symptoms is sulphites (I had some vegan sausages yesterday that contained sulphites). Going to see if an allergy test is possible and try some allergy meds. I've had a colonoscopy/endoscopy which were both normal and also waiting on a SIBO test.

    Hi Chandra,

Has it gotten any better for you? I am suffering from the same symptoms for the last 1 month and my gastroscopy came out negative. I am wondering what's going on.

hi! i've had these symptoms and it begun february 2020 as i was diagnosed with gerd. but all the symptoms you guys have been experiencing is what i have experienced too. had endoscopy, ultrasound, and many other laboratory tests and it came all back normal, aside from xray which shows something abnormal in my lungs (this was after 5 months of suffering reflux). so my doctor suspected i have tuberculosis and gave me meds for it and yes, it improved somehow. but the reflux symptoms are still there. i cant even yawn, cant sneeze properly, the chest-to-throat feels like tightened and this is still an every occurrence. up until now i suffer these and get no improvements. i was hoping someone could share their idea as to how they solved the same problem.
