Feeling weird when walking and standing.. anyone else?

I've had anxiety for a while and it started getting worse and I noticed I was slightly off balance. Fast forward to almost 2 years and I am constantly off balance when walking or standing, feel like im swaying back and forth sometimes when standing, head gets heavy, would describe as a constant dizziness except nothing is spinning. When walking I will get a sudden feeling inside as if my body dipped into the ground or kind of jolted forward. All of this has made me scared of walking and standing which only makes it worse. When I am leaning on something or holding on to something such as a railing or shopping cart it doesn't happen. As soon as I am freely walking is when I start to feel weird and my feet don't feel right on the ground and I look as though I'm walking normally but I feel unsteady and get random bursts of dizziness that last for like a second. Again, not a spinning dizziness. I've been told it's anxiety but just worried that it could be something else as I've tried several anxiety meds and only one has slightly helped. Doesn't happen when I'm sitting or laying down. Only upright and it's pretty much constant when walking. I can maybe get a few steps in here or there feeling like a normal person walking. It makes me constantly think about how I feel when I'm walking and obsess over how my body feels when I'm walking. Occasionally I do also feel the floor drop underneath me or the floor will feel bouncy like rubber. My heart also skips beats which also feels like the floor is dropping under me. Does this happen to anyone else??

Hi Jessica i am sorry that you are going through this. The first time i felt this was when i was 14 and when most of my problems started. I would sit on a chair and it felt like i was falling through it or falling off it. I had a lot of time off school because of it. I also experienced a swaying off balance feeling especially when in a large shopping centre. I would have to walk along the wall for support and even walking from my car to pay for petrol at the shop was hard. I would get this overwhelming feeling i was being pushed over. I know its all to do with anxiety as now when i go to these places the fear of it happening makes it happen. I also have had the floor feel like its moving or sinking like the feeling you get when you get out of a lift. Such horrible sensations. I have a constant weird dizziness feeling in my head and my balance is off quite often. Please dont be too alarmed it is all to do with anxiety and nerves. I hope you get some relief knowing you are not alone. Take care.

I also believe that alot of my anxiety and mental problems are hormonal as they seem to become worse when my hormones are playing up. I hope you get some relief with the meds. I am supposed to take meds but im so scared. May I asked where you are located. I am in australia

I have been on meds on and off since i was 11. Latest on i tried was seroquel which had a very bad affect on me. Last anti depressant i was on was cipramil . Didnt really help so i went off it and was doing ok until about 7 months ago.

I am going to start on a cream that you just rub into the skin twice a day. I wont do synthetics. Its called menopause moisture cream. Google it and have a read about it..has been getting some good reviews and all natural

It appears that you may be suffering from dehydration. Drink plenty of water and take one a day vitamins.

HI , you have just written my post.....I am exactly the same, Have every single feeling and sensation you have...its so bad, that I am afraid to leave my house alone...even in my house I am holding on to things to feel secure...and the sensation of dropping through the floor is very scary...I have had balance tests done, and my balance is fine...told its Anxiety related...and to practice walking around the house, as much as possible...without holding on to things...I havan't got it under control yet...but I am really trying...standing on one leg for 15 secs, then repeat to the other...really helps...to give you confidence....you are definately not on your own with this....it sucks..x

Hello,
Just checking into this group as I experience pretty much the same as you are all describing. The other day when leaving a football match (I have a season ticket at my local team), my clumsiness was so bad I walked straight into someone without even noticing they were there - very embarrassing. I find it hard to believe my MRI head scan was reported back clear - today at work my head feels very strange and I get the 'dropping' sensation even whilst sat down. It comes as a sudden 'whoosh' over the head - the world looks like i am looking at it through a goldfish bowl. If someone talks to me at length or gives me too much information I cannot bear it -I will literally start sweating and dehydrating for no apparent reason.
Off to the doctors 'again' this week...I don't know what the root cause of the problem is. Just simply being around people for too long seems to set me off....

when you stand on one leg does it feel like the floor is moving under you or like moving up and down?
