But it's worth it Joy, the further you get through the journey the better you will feel. The trouble is with this joourney it is such a big learning curve too, and you keep getting knock backs and ups and downs...... but it's still worth every minute of the journey and when the end of the journey is in sight you will have achieved the biggest hurdle you have ever jumped.

Be fed up scream shoout bang your head, put it all on paper, get it off your chest......  you will feel a lot better and then you will take another step up the ladder... tomorrow is another day smilesmilesmilesmile

I'm 8 weeks out from a THR too. I can sympathise with the not sleeping properly. It's a real problem. But I am trying some Panadol Night Pain which is helping as it contains something to help you sleep. And, like you, I'm wondering when I'll manage putting my sock on again without using various odd pieces of equipment!

I'm sure it'll get better! And although there's some discomfort sometimes that awful pain has gone. Onwards and upwards.....

I am being compared to people who, somehow managed to get back to work after 6wks!!! God knows how, just makes me feel like I'm playing on this horrible time!!!!!

Just remember that you've had major, major surgery. A friend was told that it would be 3 months until she felt reasonably OK and 6 months at least until full recovery. And some say 12 months. We need to cut ourselves some slack and be kind to ourselves.

But, nobody tells you this before!! I would have struggled on as I was, had I known it was going to take so long!! I suppose only thing I can be grateful for, is, I'm getting paid. Must be so worrying for those who aren't!!!!

I used to compare my recovery to others and it is so wrong.  You are unique and you will get better at your own speed.  I try to hard to do things and end up oin pain, taking it easy is hard but worth it.

Hello..I was on this site prior to my hip op and now 8 weeks on.  I have not logged on for a couple of weeks but when I read your post I had to reply.  I get bad days too and a lovely nurse said it is the 'hippie blues'..It seems never ending..the sleeplessness the not understanding from others who say..'my you are doing well'..they don't see the frustration dropping things, trying to get shoes on etc etc.  It will get better for you.  How far along are you?  Many people on this site have been so supportive.  I am pleased to be back on the forum!

I thank you. I guess just feeling a little down. I'm seen as a hard faced strong women, but, this operation has knocked the stuffing out of me!!

9wks tomorrow, I'm crawling up the stairs on all 4s, can get halfway in normal step, climbing over the bath to shower, in a crawl position, as for putting on socks??? Don't even go there!! Just fed up with it all!!!!

Joy, it will come.  I use my grand daughter toilet step-up to get over the bath for a shower, I use my grabber to help with socks.  This op is so life changing and bloody frustrating at times, I am seven weeks post and the first few weeks I sounded like I had tourettes, my language was foul, I was never having the other hip done, but it does get better, just take it slowly and stop expecting too much too soon and you will get there, slowly slowly catchy monkey x x

I don't have anyone here Joy so I can cuss all I want.  My kids catch me sometimes when I am on a downer, but they cant do anything other than make me a cuppa.  Tell you something, I dont drink as a rule, but I have taken to having whiskey in my cuppa, only ever had it Christmas morning.  Now I have had it morning, night time, in the night time and in my hot milk at bed time.  I have had to stop as near a bottle has gone.
