You know joy I'm 24 weeks in and I am beginning to feel the benefits. The pain is just about gone and I have just about full movement in my right hip.

i was at the hospital today and have been told that my left hip needs a hole hip replacement too. So I have to go through this all again.

Will I do it? The way I feel about my right hip. No doubt about it yet. Tool on.

Hang on babe it will feel better soon. All of a sudden every day you will feel a difference. You'll see.

When I first had my op I was like you did not see the light at the end of that tunnel but now I am so pleased I had it done. Hold on babe it will be well worth it. X

I will need other soon!! Somebody once told me, the light at the end of the tunnel is a humongous freight train, but, if you lie down, it passes over you, it's ringing true right now!!!

I had my op 31 July and have had some real ups and downs since. I'm one of those that returned to work at 7 weeks but not without its problems. It was too early and set me back with additional groin pain. Things are improving now and the ups are far exceeding the downs now.

So as others have said, try not to worry too much the pain does ease and the fed up feelings do go too!

Return to work looks like after Christmas hols for me. 😳

We all heal at different rates, it's natural to draw comparisons with others but also probably the worst thing to do! Don't know what your sick pay is like, mine was non existent hence my return to work so early! If someone told me I'd be off work til after Christmas I'd have been delighted 😉 (On full pay of course!!)

Keep strong, things will get easier xx

Are you on your own? It is hard if you are.  The comments are coming in thick and fast and should help you..they are helping me too.  I seem to be lop sided but have been discharged now ( 8 weeks) which is daunting as thought I would still be being checked.  I live in a bungelow and never thought I would be so grateful not to have stairs but means I don't practice!!  I take sleeping pills which is bad but the nights are difficult aren't they?  I wish non hippes could read these comments and might understand a bit more.  My target is the 12 weeks and I try not to think beyound that at the moment. Bit of a shock to read of people who are months on but forwarned is to be forearmed they say!!!

I hope you feel less blue tomorrow.

I can get a yr full pay, but, I'm not the sort of person to take advantage, I love my job, I'm working with vulnerable young people and, whilst I'm off, I feel I am letting them down, spend my time worrying about them!!

That's a fabulous attitude but don't forget your own health is the most important thing right now. Try not to over expect , take things easy as you recover from major surgery and stay positive. You'll be fit for a return to work sooner than you think right now but more importantly when your body says so!

I have my amazing partner, but, we work together on night shift normally, which means right now, he works all night, and sleeps all day, is like being on my own. I have my giant dog as company, but, the poor boy is being told to keep away right now, so, is a lonely existence at the moment.

You sound like a loving and caring lady. I too did not want to take advantage of the full six months full pay I would have received I just wanted to get back and carry on with my life. And yes I did feel like I was letting the team down while I was off. But people kept reminding my that I didn't just get a tooth out I had major surgery.

Hope you feel better soon and I will let you know when my next op is when it comes through. Take care and God bless.x

If that is the case Joy, so be it.  Don't rush to get back too soon as Michael said it can bring extra complications.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for all your comments, am now realising that I have to let nature take its course, I can't rush this, and I have to accept that doing as I'm told is my way of life for at least, the next few weeks.

most important, I'm not the only person in the world striving to reach that "new lease of life"
