Feels like something stuck in nose

I'm a 36 year old man from sweden. It all started with sinusitis 9 months ago that didn't go away. In september I had sinus surgery and i thought that would solve my problems but it didn't. The problem is only in one nostril. It feels like a pressure or like something is stuck there. Kind of like i'm deeply congested or like part of my nose has grown together deep inside.. I can't realy explain it. It won't help with nasal spray or steroid nasal spray. Saline rinses won't work either. Even if i can breathe through nose it still feels blocked like deeper inside...  My ENT says that my sinuses looks normal. This feeling is consuming me and i hope someone can help me.

I'm 37 and recently starting feeling like something is in my left sinus. if I just blow out real fast it feels like something is in there. My left ear sometimes crackles or pops when blowing my nose. Where my left sinus drains also feels sore. I'm super worried its something really bad.

I just got diagnosed with colorectal cancer and I'm now stressing it's also some kind of cancer in my throat or something. I cant get an appointment for a couple weeks to check. its driving me crazy.

Could it be a structural problem? How are your nasal valves/upper lateral cartilages? They aren't collapsing into your nostrils are they?

Hi I have a similar problem with one nostril and have had CAT scans and an MRI which shows the configeration in that nostril is a bit different to the other. I cant breath through it and I feel like something is stuck in that side of my throat like hard mucus or something. I had a endoscopy which showed nothing in my throat. Im soo over this and cant sleep. Have to breath through my mouth

hi everyone, I am from Singapore and recently I had this constant 'poking' feeling in my right nostril. Started off with neck pain in 2013 where i have constant chest discomfort and led to anxieties/worries/fear. one year later, came the neck pain (left). x-ray shown a straighten neck. over the years, symptoms developed along the way.

    • knocking sound in right ear, sometimes left ear
    • tingling / numbness on face
    • dry eye
    • right eye will blur longer than usual when pressed on
    • now poked feeling in the right nostril

i have sleep apnea so i used a C-Pap to sleep every night . the machine will be able to vapourise moisture into the nose. sometimes in order to sleep better, I ask doctors to prescribe Lexotan , to curb the fear and anxieties. i go to also of chinese medical treatments and chircopractor. a chirocprator that i was introduced recently, adjusted my skull bone and jaws helped alot in my well being but the poking sensation is kinda new (experienced once very long time ago). i believed it could be nerve related. An ENT told me to take Vit D, B and multi-Vit every day, helpful but heaty. It could be food allergy (chicken and chocolate are 2 kind of food that cause allergy easily but we are not aware).

prior to all these, I had bad infection last year in my nose. apnea machine broke down and i had a really dry throat. scans my nose and throat many times and found it to be watery. There was a poking feel in my tongue and the ceiling of my mouth. docs cant do anything, took nasal wash with steriod. these few days, i am experiencing the poking feel in my nose.

with all these discomfort everyday, i am also beginning to feel depressed but I will not die from it. so just want to live correctly and give my best to the family.

i have taken interest in Tibetian Buddhism and it helps to overcome my fear and anxieties without medical help. with all these problems, you must be wondering whether i am alive? I am 41 this year. so many more years and hopefully not so many medical issue will happen on me ahead. The pain in the neck and back of the head are still there. chiroc helps, the discomfort, I will take some allergy pills and nasal spray. continue to feel disconfort, i will stretch my facial muscles.

some times, I thought about all these issues and the discomfort, I bring these for a run or cycling, i am temporarily cast them aside.

so live strong! live for your family! we will be gone some day but not soon. this could be something that we need to go through and be a stronger person. compare to a cancer patient, I think we are better off.

Any luck with this one Tommy? I think I have the same thing going on, it's incredibly hard to describe & usually results in people thinking you have sinusitis or similar - not the case with me, I have zero sinus problems, no nasal discharge, no blocked nose (in terms of airwaves/breathing). Feeling like part of the nose has grown together deep inside is by far the best description I have come across. i have seen 3 ENT specialists, had 3 CTs & 3 MRI scans now (that sounds crazy but it's true! Ive genuinely had 6 scans now) & nothing has been found that they think is causing the symptoms, the only finding they said was evidence of a previous nasal fracture though frustratingly they dont believe this should be causing any discomfort.

The pain I feel is almost like it is just on top of the nasal canal, kind of like it's inside the bone or muscles surrounding the bone, it's not on top of the nose/I cannot feel/manipulate the pain area by pressing on my nose from the outside.

It hurts constantly, the pain never dissipates, it almost feels as if someone has gotten a pair of pliers & clamped down somewhere in my nose & all I want is for the pressure to be released!

No luck. Been having this for 5 years now and somehow learnt to live with it. The doctors couldn't find anything that where wrong .. I have searched a lot on forums on the internet but i can't say i found anything that exactly match with my problem but your description is actually pretty alike what i am feeling. My guess is some kind of nervedamage but i'm no doctor. Someday when i'm feeling strong i'm gonna try to solve this. It has to be some doctor who can help and understand whats wrong...

my deviated septum was picked up when i was 16 when i started suffering extreme headaches and nausea. i was told some people just have it and given a nasal spray and antibiotics. It did nothing foe the headaches or the sinus issues. since then i have mentioned the headaches and nausea at every. single. doctors visit. it is poo-pooed away and then they give me a nasal spray and antibiotics. 2022 i decided i am done living with constant headaches and nausea. i demanded a brain mri to start with confirming everything there is good. they picked up a fluid retention cyst in my right max. sinus. i sent it to my ENT and he said its nothing to worry about and sent me to have a ct scan. the ct showed my turbinates to be almost shut, my septum deviated to let in as much ait as possible and my right maxillary sinus was too small to facilitate proper drainage. i also have a very small frontal sinus cavity.

so it took 23 years of fighting to hopefully get to the root of the problem. im only 2 weeks post op and the feeling of something stuck in my left turbinate brought me to this page. i hope its just swelling still and some booger that wont move as a consequence. im going to be p****d if the nausea at least doesnt go away

Im in exactly the same boat. initially i had a ruptured eardrum from swimming and for years Doctors kept telling me the fullness in my right ear was simply an ear infection. no Medication worked. I found a surgeon / consultant who actually wanted to listen. he sent me for a scan and they found my Mastoid cavity was full of water. after having mastoid surgery..it improved my ear but from years of squeezing my nose hard to 'pop' my ears..it created structural damage inside my nose. I now had a feeling of something stuck at the back of my right nostril...same side of my ear surgeagain paid privatelyI had to pay private for a consultant who said my Septum was deviated and I had a nasal polyp at the top of my nose( the previous consultant NHS said its not life threatening and Id have to live with it...obviously quality of life isnt important anymore!!)

    anyway..I had Fess surgery...

carrying on from first post..I had Fess surgery..but it didnt resolve it. it opened up my airway slightly ( but not enough ). ive learnt to 'snort' out hard with my tongue pushed up hard at the top of .y mouth...and I can feel like my blockage moves as I snort. I must admit..earlier on with this symptom..one day i was so angry with it I blew so hard..something flew out my nose..a thick but solid fatty lump.. and the feeling of clearance was Heaven..but it literally lasted only 3 weeks before I started feeling the ' moving blockage again. I feel like something structural is blocking mucus flow and its building up into a solid mass ..hence probably why it moves and isnt a solid blockage. so I now have to go see the Consultant again and ask for anothe scan to see if there is a growth or solid mucus stuck at the back of my nose. it literally feels like its stuck between my nostril and soft palette of my mouth..an area you simply cannot see. I know how crazy it drives you. temporarily I wear cotton wool up my nostril to trick my brain into thinking its just blocked fully and not rattling aroubd in my nose. it works! but it still needs sorting. also try holding your nose in different extreme positions to see if the sensation changes? this would indicate a structural issue giving you a blocked sensation.

Anyone found a solution? I'm also suffering from the same issue and even due to this I'm very stressful now.

I know this is an old thread but it was validating to read your experiences. Mine started 13 months ago with teeth extractions and possibly swallowing and snorting adhesive used for fixing a old denture in my mouth. Used lots of the fixing material which is hard to remove from gums. Could some have got in the sinus? Difficult to see with an endoscope as it is coloured pink.

Breathing OK but feeling of blocked nostril though material in the left mximillary sinus probably the cause. Can move the material by a swallowing action snorting and blow the nose though cannot blow anything out. In bed laying on my back with head raised by 3 or 4 pillows is best though my preferred position for sleep is laying on my left side. This position quickly results in the blocked feeling and soreness. I try lots of positions - on the right side, head tilted back, sitting up and also massaging the sinus region both outside and inside the mouth all in the hope that what is in the sinus can be moved into the back nasal passage and the swallowed or blown out. Been trying for 12 months and it never happens.

The feeling is sometimes of a hard object lodge in the opening between the sinus and the back nasal passage.

Also I can move this object by facial and nasal contortions to higher up the sinus and sometimes moving it or some of it into the right sinus - though feels more like it has moved into the right back nasal passage. It cannot be blown out so not in the nasal passage. Also sometimes the object(s) seem to be lodged high up in or at the entrance to the ethmoid sinus. The objects will always return to the left maximillary sinus

The discomfort and sometimes pain and soreness is there constantly day and night.

Sinus rinses , steroid drops do not help though give some short term relief. Eating and drinking also give relief.

I have had 2 CT scans and 2 FESS ops over a 12 month period.

The first CT scan showed much opacity and post op the histology report showed fungal hypyae with calcification and a tooth root which had previously identified in a dental xray .

The op did nothing to improve the discomfort and pain I had before the op. A surprise for me and the ENT surgeon considering the histology report.

The 2nd CT scan taken 6 months after the op showed a relatively clear maximillary sinus.

The 2nd op by a different ENT surgeon was septoplasty of nose including attention to the turbines. The aim to improve drainage from the sinus and reduce the likely hood of infections. I was told that my reported symptoms of blocked nose and sinus pain were the result of an infection which could not be treated with antibiotics. me

5 weeks after this op my symptoms are the same as I described earlier. The soreness is more of a problem but probably still soon after the op. What is very disappointing and depressing is the constant feeling of a blocked nose and the presence in the sinus of an object or objects day and night. Nights are the worse and then waking with a very blocked and sore nose/sinus.

Maybe no more surgery unless the surgeon can see and show me the object in the sinus and is confident he/she can remove it.

I will see if there is an antibiotic that can treat the infection

even though the 4 ENT surgeons I have consulted say it is not possible.

And will maybe try accupuncture to get relief.

Wonderful if someone reading this has the answers.
