Feels like swelling under ribs

Hi everyone. i have been dealing with off and on gb pain for about 3 years. i was diagnosed with sludge and gravel stones. I decided not to have it removed at that time because it settled down and i wanted to wait and see if it happened again. It has flared up a few times since then. Usually not excruciating pain, just moderate, some nausea and flushing but never run a fever. it will usually last a few days and then may not bother me for months. i did have another ultrasound about a year ago that didn't show any stones. i have decided to have it removed now because this past weekend it started aching again and then felt like it was swelling. i figure it is time. Has anyone else experiences the swelling feeling. It has settled down now. still aching. i have appoint with surgeon in a couple of weeks. Thanks!

Try OMEPRAZOLE over the counter, it worked with me. check if you have a hiatal hernia.

Yes feels like the rib cage is under tension, also stitch like feeling where the gallbladder is and deep, dull pain under right shoulder blade.

good description of how it feels. it felt like i couldn't sit up straight because my ribs on the right side were pushing down on something and then yes i will get a sharper type pain sometimes too.

Hi 2chr, Other symptoms are nausea pretty much 24//7, light coloured stools, dark urine, dizziness, pain between my shoulder blades, fatigue, feel like i've got the flu and feel like someone has kicked me in my right ribs.
Yes the swelling feeling comes and goes, but i have constant discomfort in the same area.
You?

i have had the light colored stools in the past but not recently. other than that its just the annoying discomfort and that swelling feeling that happened recently. i could deal with the off and on symptoms but i'm afraid it might rupture or end up in some emergency situation. have you had any itchy skin?

Yes, lots in my legs and feet.
2chr, i was referred for surgery 18 months ago after fighting and complaining of my symptoms for well over a year. Waited 3 months to see surgery team and after months of fumbles i was referred back to the gastro, waited over 6 months, was seen again in Oct 2018, had HIDA scan and was seen again and told i would be seen again within 3 months! Well guess what......... that was nearly 6 months ago!!! I've heard nothing!
I take it you're not in the UK?

Yes, please keep us updated.
2chr, i'm not having surgery even though i had an ultrasound that showed a shadow in my gallbladder and a thickened wall. That was 18 + months ago.
I don't think that since being here i've seen one single person have a good time with the NHS. IT'S CRAP!

So why are you so intent on getting your gall bladder removed when you may well be able to achieve no stones in your gall bladder provided they are cholesteroil type stones by dissolving them with ursodioxycholic acid treatment? All the information is there on the internet if your particular surgeon is not fully aware of the situation.......
Why should I bother to put this anywhere now that I have a gall bladder that does not have symptomatic stones in it? Because I must care that there are many who have their gall bladder removed that was totally unnecessary...
This however is how things transpire because believe it or not there are some people who firmly believe theis earth of ours is absolutely flat!
