Feels like swelling under ribs

Hi everyone. i have been dealing with off and on gb pain for about 3 years. i was diagnosed with sludge and gravel stones. I decided not to have it removed at that time because it settled down and i wanted to wait and see if it happened again. It has flared up a few times since then. Usually not excruciating pain, just moderate, some nausea and flushing but never run a fever. it will usually last a few days and then may not bother me for months. i did have another ultrasound about a year ago that didn't show any stones. i have decided to have it removed now because this past weekend it started aching again and then felt like it was swelling. i figure it is time. Has anyone else experiences the swelling feeling. It has settled down now. still aching. i have appoint with surgeon in a couple of weeks. Thanks!

That is when the gall bladder is suffering inflamation......... That happened to me but I got a prescription for ursodeoxycholic acid from my gastric surgeon & then my GP had to repeat that script. In six months 4 stones had gone and the 17mm on is now 10mm. I do not have any symptoms as of now. It may well become dangerous when a gall bladder is enlarged when it can be 'felt' because an eminent Oncologist said he could feel my gall bladder and he said he found that interesting because he has never been able to feel anyone's gall bladder before mine!

My symptoms at that time were horrendous with vomiting that started late evening after my evening meal & it went on till the early hours....... The vomiting was very hard to cope with but the ursodeoxycholic acid dissolved the stones I had bar one. He said he would be pleased to re do any future ursodeoxcholic acid script I needed if I requested it.

Before 'the knife' I would have thought it is well worth researching the URSO because it works but only apparently for cholesterol type stones.

You are welcome.... Incidentally =not all doctors know about the ursodeoxycholic acid treatment to dissolve gall stones of type. All my GP's refused to write a script for that treatment and the excuse was that it 'might not work' which was patent rubbish in my case because it is now more than two years since my gall bladder was very swollen and inflamed.

The surgeon is a THE leading gastro surgeon in Nottingham and he confirmed that yes usodeoxycholic acid will dissolve gall stones but it is a horrible way of doing it...... Not so for me I told him in a letter and he said in reply that he was very pleased that in my case it suited me admirably....... I feel positive that many a gall bladder has been removed quite unnecessarily which seems a shame. I feel strongly also that it boils down to education.

I read an internet article by a USA specialist gastric surgeon who sated that few good doctors knew about acid dissolution of gall stones.

I friend of mine LAST WEEK had 'his' gall stones 'flushed' out of his gall bladder because his heart was not up to coping with an operation as is the norm........ I have never seen that item discussed or the urso treatment either = secret service?
