Fibromyalgia & Breast pain

Hi There, I was just wondering if anyone else suffers from breast pain/tenderness due to Fibro?
I have pain elsewhere as well (thighs, knees, hips) but was really wondering if anyone else has suffered from this? My doctor thinks it is related to my fibro & doesn't think it is anything serious, since it is in both breasts & not in one spot. It is mostly on the sides of my breasts & my ribs are sore as well.

Just wanted to add that last time I had a mammogram, the pain was so bad, I practically couldn't stand it. I'm pretty sure the Technician thought I was being melodramatic. There needs to be more education about Fibromyalgia and how it affects patients-- over their whole body. I told my doctor and she thinks maybe I might qualify for an MRI next time, but it will require going to a "breast specialist" for a second opinion. Pain was so bad, I just don't want to go back for another mammagram. It seems like there should be something the Radiologists could come up with to alleviate the pain-- maybe a shot of something. I can't take NSAIDS b/c they give me severe stomach pains. Has anyone else experienced this?

My doctor gives me a shot called Toradol injection. It helps with the pain. I found Tylenol works too since I can't take NSAIDS. I use to take a lot of pain pills but I got off those and stuck with the Tylenol and it actually works! Also get on Cymbalta for fibromyalgia too. I also take Gabapentin at dinner time before bed to help sleep at night due to my pain. And yes I have pain all over and in my brests especially the right side. My hip pain and rib cage and lower back is the worst pain ever. I hate having to deal with this issue. See a RA doctor. They can help with the shots!

Thanks for the suggestion for an RA doc.and the Toradol shot. I haven't tried them yet, but should. Update: I was allowed to get an MRI of breasts . Turns out that's not a picnic either--very uncomfortable. And the gyn wanted me to go back for an ultrasound , but I haven't. I know those hurt too, but mainly b/c my Mom started having lots of health issues (she's was in a Memory Care Unit) Dealing with those sidetracked me & I got very behind in all of my appts/check-ups etc. I was thinking about going in for the ultrasound, but using Aspercreme on breasts prior to the appt, let it sink in , then wipe off anything on the surface b/c I know they are strict about not wanting you to have any creams on your skin. BTW: The stress of handiling my Mom's illnesses has made all of my symptoms worse-- fatigue is worse, back pain of OA is way worse! & fibro is maybe stable.

Hi. I know this is an older post, but I'm new to all of this. I'm 32 and am in the processes of waiting on lab results to rule out some other possible issues, but my doctor is almost positive I'm suffering from fibromyalgia. One of the pains in having is not just chest pains but my actual breasts hurting immensely. I'm in pain from head to toe and just thought it was weird my breasts were also hurting this bad. I'm glad to see I'm not alone. I wish there was a full fibromyalgia forum to reach out to others on. This is all so new and depressing for me. I'm in constant, horrible pain and can't sleep at night. Nothing helps so far. I feel like a huge burden on our family right now with medical bills and now stress from me being in pain and not providing much help around the house. I just hope it gets better. That there's a light at the end of the tunnel. 😞

Yes Pam I have lots of breast pain. Sometimes I get nervous thinking it's my heart. Ugh... It's nerve wrecking but we have to really pray with this disease.

Hi. I have fibromyalgia plus a mile long list. Also a chromosome deletion 11.14q.3. no name for it. Four off my five kids have the same deletion. But I have struggled with breast pain for years. Try not to panic but not easy. I suffer with pain in both breasts. In the centre. Really painful. Haven't been to Dr yet about this. But just don't know. Carnt feel any obvious Lumps x
Just unsure .
I thought it was cos I wore underwrite bras.
I carnt wear snug fitting ones as I find it had to breathe.
But my pain is there constantly.
Pain comes from middle and inside and bottom.
Help x please anyone else x

Hi Amanda, so sorry, I lost my log in and email notifications went to spam just found all these questions from years ago! How did you get on? I'm still here 3 years later still having same symptoms! They come and go so I'm convinced it's all linked with my hypermobility, fibro and the fact I have foreign objects in my chest! Xx

I've had breast pain for a few years now but my dr won't send me to a rheumatologist after 5 years of complaining of all over pain, stomach issues, headaches, numbness in my hands and feet and legs, brain fog, vision issues, vertigo, constantly cold even in the summer, but extremely hot in bed (could be menopause that one) , extreme itchiness, list goes on, that affects my life greatly! I have been diagnosed with chiari malformation by a neurosurgeon but my dr won't recognize it and says that it's not related to chiari anyway. Today after 2 weeks of dragging myself out of bed through the pain and to another day of work and crying all the way there and home because of the pain I'm at my wits end. I don't know where to turn or go. I can barely put a shirt on today because the breast pain and pain in my joints and body is so bad. I'm sure my dr thinks this is all in my head or he would send me to someone instead of looking at me every time I go in and saying " I have no idea what's going on with you." He's sent me for blood work, mri's , and has now said after me spending over $1000.00 on natural paths and chiropractors for feet pain (shock wave therapy) that he's sure I have some sort of autoimmune disease but still doesn't send me to a rheumatologist. Not sure how to get to see one without his referal and so done with the pain. Help at my wits end. Does this sound like Fibro to the ones that have it?

Hi Kim,
My name is Jo Ann and your symptoms are exactly like mine but I have more. I have had every test you can imagine and went to a rheumatologist that did a blood test for cryoglobulinemia and lord and behold I came out positive. It’s a blood disease that can cause all the symptoms. Look it up because there is so much to learn about it. He did all the blood tests for autoimmune disease and lupus and not it. I’m actually getting a CT scan of my chest and abdominal area tomorrow because of the constant pain I have all over in my right side all around my ribcage area and right breast making sure my implant hasn’t ruptured that could possibly be causing pain. And my liver area hurts so that will be looked at too. I have had several mri’s ultra sounds and blood work that show it’s ok but I do have some supposedly benign tumors on my liver that a CT scan can see better than the other ones.
Do you have implants? and how old are you? I’m 61
I hope you figure out what is going on with you. Look up the cryoglobulinemia and get tested if possible but make sure the lab tecs know how because it’s a very hard test to get right and you need to fast for it. Good luck! 🌸
