Finally

After 2weeks of having an infection I finally had a swab taken today. It's been a total farce. Couldn't get a GP appointment ,, went to walk in at local a and e. They told me after a 3 hour wait they hadn't the facilities to take a swab. Given amoxicillin which didn't work. Told me to go back to my GP if no better. GP said they wouldn't see me as I had the op privately. Called my private health care last night they said insist on an appointment. Finally see a GP today who was lovely and couldn't believe the aggravation I had. Given different antibiotics and swab sent off ! Took all of 10 minutes! Gggggrrrrr

Sorry for the moan ladies xx

Moan away Rosiepix because you have every right to. No GP has the right to turn you away but I bet it was the receptionist. If so I'd be ringing the practice manager in the morning. I'm pleased you saw someone but it's not really good enough.

It was actually a GP at the practice Matron, I could tell the GP I saw today wasn't impressed but obviously has to be careful what he says x

Someone is obviously anti private patients. Not very good at all. x

No , after speaking to my healthcare yesterday I was told they have no right to refuse to see you. I was going to change GP but the one I saw today was so lovely so think I'll just ask for appointments with him in future x

I would certainly look into reporting the issue about not getting to see a GP - what a carry on you have had to go through - hopefully this load of antibiotics will get you sorted now

I may complain Deborah , at the moment I'm just glad to have got it sorted at last X thank you 🌹 Xxx

so sorry to hear of your experience.  I know only too well how awful that must have been for you.  I have anterior/posterior repair in November last year and had a torrid time infact a still suffering with post traumatic stress from the awful experience I endured.  I also went private for my surgery and was apalled with the care both at the hospital and from the specialist who dismissed me as soon as the surgery had been done even though I was catheterised for 7 weeks at home and had to be re-admitted three times to hospital as am emergency due to catheter blockage and awful painful related problems.  The specialist didnt even bother to follow up with me after any of the emerg re-admissions and I literally had to beg them to take a swab in the hospital as I also thought and felt like I had an infection.  They also referred me back to my GP straight after surgery and also told me to go to a & e, then when I called NHS 111 they told me that a & e would not be able to help me and that I should go back to the private hospital and specialist for care and the specialist was not there for me atall.

The entire experience has left me numb and I have suffered with anxiety and other problems since. I honestly wish I had never had it done with the specialist I did.  I am so pleased to hear that you found a GP who was able to help you. I could write a novel or 2 about my experience. My view on private healthcare has changed considerably even though I appreciate there are still some good consultants out there who really do care about their patients rather than pulling in as much money as possible.

I hope the antibiotics help you a little and that you will feel better very soon.

Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know you are not alone with all of this.

Pelvic surgery is greatly underrated... it is invasive and painful and terribly traumatic sad

    wishing you well xx

I know your experience has been truly awful lorelli but it isn't always the case. I've had prolapse surgery and as you know nursed a lot if ladies following surgery and I know just how successful it can be. I agree the post op period is painful at times but I would expect that considering the pelvic floor and vulval area are so delicate but there are many many success stories.

Hi Lorelli what a terrible time you've had. I have my follow up appointment on 13th and to be fair it's not my healthcare that I've had problems with it is the NHS. I feel I've been fobbed off by a so called caring profession. The GP today said it was rubbish that the walk in centre couldn't take a swab and the antibiotics they gave me would have done little. If my private healthcare hospital had been closer I would have gone there but it's nearly 2 hours away. It sounds like you was let down by both private and NHS, I'm so sorry for you

My dear Matron....  If only I had been one of your patients things would undoubtedly have been easier for me!... Seems I endured a particularly bad time but thankfully there appear to be more success stories on this site than bad ones like mine which is a definite positive.  I just want to let people out there know to be mindful with the care they are getting from the doctors assisting this because I was dismissed without any aftercare whatsoever or district nurse when I was home with a catheter in pain with bleeding without anyone to turn to being told to go to my GP who was unable to really help with something so specialised.

My aim is not to scare anyone quite the opposite.  Just for ladies to check they will be offered some form of aftercare should they encounter any problems or issues as I did xx

thank you for your note. I am pleased you got it sorted and hope you get to feel much better soon.  I guess we have to put all these things down to experience but think it is important everyone shares their experiences through this site as it helped me so very much at a time when I needed it the most.  wishing you well and a very speedy recovery xxx

I know you're not scaring  anyone lorelli. We are all here to support one another and you have brought up some excellent points and it is important to know that not all consultants are caring and totally professional so it is good to share experiences x
