Finally found the cause of my Prostatitis

Posted , 68 users are following.

After my 2nd test of just providing a semen sample, Staphylococcus was found to be my problem causing prostatitis.  This is good news to me since I have been dealing with this for 7 months and on and off for years.  I was on 2 weeks of Cipro and since it did not work and I am allergic to shell fish so Bactrim will not work, the doctor would like to administer the antibiotics via poss IV ABX, every day for 28 days.  The clinic is close by me thank God and will be in an out in an hour each day.  Does anyone have experience with this procedure for Bacterial Prostatitis?

Is it normal for prostatitis to be negative in conventional tests?
    • Edited

Yes it is. The urine testing they do only show approximately 5 % where as DNA sequencing yeids 100% accurate bacteriological state of your seen and urine. Urologist need to up their game and get with the new technology, the newest of which is DNA sequencing. If you read the newest info out on PubMed most men with what's classified as non-bacterial prostatitis have a polymicrobial infection meaning more than one pathogen.

    Hey Michael,

My name is Justin and I'm 37. when I was in my 30s I went to a urologist who told me I had non-bacterial prostatitis after doing apost vb3 urine and checking my prostate AKA digital rectal exam. somewhere deep inside I believe that this has been an infection all along and I am now about to see my 4th urologist. I live in Canada the province of Ontario specifically and I'm interested in having a urine and semen DNA done. Could you please message me the place that you used in the states? my next step is to get a referral from this new urologist to an infectious disease specialist and I'm going to ask him for that on the first visit. could you please give me any advice if you have any at all. I'm so glad to hear that you kept fighting to find the true cause of your prostatitis and are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Your story gives me hope, and that's exactly what I need after years of suffering with this nasty disease. I must say that I do agree with you that 95% of cases are not non-bacterial I think a small majority are non bacterial I think it's probably the reverse maybe 5% with no bacteria the other 95% being us with bacteria. I did test positive for enterococcus once but they said it was a false positive because when they cultured my urine the second time it was negative! anyway thanks for your help good luck and keep us updated!

Hi, yes I will IM you the lab my uro used. The are great to wirk with. I spoke to an ID doctor who is a family friend and he absoultly hated prostate cases because of the complexity. I am feeling much much better and I am not 100% sure the bacteria found by the DNA test caused my prostate influmation. Its important to find and treat the bacteria found, no doupt but the ID said with a test this sensitive it may not be the problem... The test found the bacteria in my probiotics and that is not the cause so be cautious with the findings, its a very powerful test. Visit the website and cluck on urology and FAG, play the videos and you will be amazed at the sensitivity of the test. Good Luck

      Thank you for your response.

So which bacteria was the one they think is found in your probiotics?

Also I have been treating myself with Herbal antibiotics for several months and had made progress but relapsed after having unprotected sex with my partner. I was using Cryptolepis and Bidens Pilosa tintures at one point which are bothe systemic herbal antibiotics, but its expensive and have just been taking the cryptolepis tincture since my relapse. They take time to work though 6 to 18 weeks to notice improvement to a major shift in symptoms. Also taking a teaspoon of bee pollen every morning as well as several cups of tea a day made from Uva Ursi, Buchu and Corn Silk. If you don't know about those herbs I strongly recommend looking into them as well as the tinctures. Heres a list of systemic herbal antibiotics that I'm copy and pasting from the inspire website which is a forum of men and women sharing there experience with IC/Prostatitis:

Stephen Buhner's excellent book, Herbal Antibiotics, 2nd edition identifies five main broad, powerful, systemic antibacterial herbs. They are:

      Cryptolepis

      Sida (Acuta)

      Alchornea

      Bidens (Pilosa)

      Artemisia

Here's what each is active against:

      _____

Cryptolepis: Aspergillus spp., Babesia spp., Bacillus spp., Campylobacter spp., Candida spp., Entamoeba spp., Enterobacter cloacae, Escherichia coli, Herpes simplex, Klebsiella spp., Mycobacterium spp., Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Plasmodium spp., Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Samonella spp., Shigella dysentariae, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes

Sida Acuta: Babesia spp., Bacillis spp., Escherichia coli, Herpes simplex, Listeria innocua, Mycobacterium phlei, Pasteurella multicocida, Plasmodium spp., Salmonella typhimurium, Shigella boydii, Shigella dysentariae, Shigella flexneri, Staphyloccus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes

Alchornea: Aspergillis spp., Babesia spp., Bacillis subtillis, Candida albicans, Entamoeba histolytica, Escherichia coli, Helicobacter pylori, Klebsiella pneumonia, Plasmodium spp., Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Samonellla enteritidis, Samonella typhi, Shigella flexneri, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes

Bidens Pilosa: Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis, Candida albicans, Human cytomegalovirus, Entamoeba histolytica, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Herpes simplex 1 and 2, Klebsiella pneumonia, Leishmania amazonensis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Plasmodium spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella spp., Serratia marcescens, Shigella flexneri, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis

Artemisia: Babesia spp., Bovine diarrheal virus, Clonorchis sinensis, Eimeria acervulina, Elmeria tenelia, Epstein-Barr virus, Fasciola hepatica, Hepatitis B and C, Leishmania spp., Leishmania spp., Neospora caninum, Opisthorchis viverrini, Plasmodium Spp., Schistosoma spp., Toxoplasmagondii, Trypanosoma spp.

      _____

Herbal antibacterials are truly the medicine of the future. Because each herb contains hundreds to thousands of compounds--rather than a single compound as in pharmaceutical antibiotics--bacteria simply cannot "find their way around them." Bacteria cannot develop resistance to herbal antibacterials. I'll say that, again. Bacteria cannot develop resistance to herbal antibacterials.

Please everyone share any useful information you have learned in treating your CP/CPPS.

      I hope this helps somebody.

Hi, doing much better. I have been off antibiotics for about 2 months and I have very little pain. Some days are a bit worse then others but for the most part I can get through the day with very little pain. I will go back to the uro in Jan to get my prostate checked and take another DNA test, I will see what he wants to do. I am really torn still on what I have. Bacterial or non bacterial, I just dont know. The DNA test found bacteria, no doubt but was that causing the inflamation? Because some days I have almost no discomfort and because I have had these flairups go away without antibiotics over the years , I wonder...I have been dealing with this flairup now for over a year, I manage it pretty well. My suggestion is to get the DNA test done and treat the bacteria but use caution, just because bacteria is found with this test doesnt mean its the cause of the prostatitis. In any case prostatitis is one mean, relentless and ruthless desease some unfortunate men like us have to deal with. My symptoms are penal pain and burning in my urithra after I urinate. If I drink a lot of water throughput the day, my urithra does not hurt after I urinate. I cant dring alchole or coffee without horrible pain. Sex, errections and ejaculations do not hurt but does afterwords at times. I have penal pain on a full bladder and can't hold urin for very long withou discomfort. I wake up in the middle of the night only sometimes and only once to urinate when I do, my stream is very strong. with no dribble. My prostate size is 30cc and on the last exame the left side was swollen but not the right. Hot baths, heating pad on my lower back and ice help. My pelvis and back MRI did show some pelvis twisting and my hips are uneven with my left side lower then my right. Is my left side lower back pain and left hip unevenn with my right causing the left side prostate inflammation? Is the bacteria found on the DNA test causing the inflammation? Is it both? I am treating both and feeling better but still not gone. The two test that I relied on was my exrays of my pelvis the pointed out my skeletal hip disfunction and the urine DNA that found the bacteria.

Does anyone know what kind of doctor or specialist I talk to about next gen DNA Sequencing? Is it infectious disease doc or someone else

Your Uro or any MD can call them, serup an accout and send in your urin sample

I thought you send in a semen sample. What If there are no bacteria from your prostate in your urine? I've had my.urine cultured and infection never shows up.

unclefester, I think it depends on how bad your infection is and if a minute particle gets in the sample as it passes the Prostate. Urology Nurse took a sample from me yesterday and it will show nothing as coming straight from the catheter in my bladder, yet I have a raging infection with pain in the Penis and sweat dripping off me and low temperature. Now if she took a sample when I bypass the catheter I bet you there will be a strong result as less bladder urine with it.  In UK they do not want to know DNA Sequencing, even Infectious Diseases Doctors and just state they have never heard of it.
