Finally found the cause of my Prostatitis

After my 2nd test of just providing a semen sample, Staphylococcus was found to be my problem causing prostatitis. This is good news to me since I have been dealing with this for 7 months and on and off for years. I was on 2 weeks of Cipro and since it did not work and I am allergic to shell fish so Bactrim will not work, the doctor would like to administer the antibiotics via poss IV ABX, every day for 28 days. The clinic is close by me thank God and will be in an out in an hour each day. Does anyone have experience with this procedure for Bacterial Prostatitis?

Another update. Took the 3rd DNA test about two weeks ago and all of the effects were gone except for the original bacteria that was found on the first and not found on the second.... Seratia Marcescens. A quick refresher, I had done 2 urine cutlers with prostate fluid and they were negative across the board. Did the next gen sequencing DNA test and and semen sample and found Seratia Marcescens in a heavy load only with a staph bug in my semen... Put on 30 days of Levaquin, was still hurting and retested 1 week later. Seratia was gone but the staph was still showing. Put on two weeks of amoxicillin to kill the staph. Tested 1 week later and the staph was gone but my happy friend Seratia Marcescens was back in full force. I was put on Bactrim for 30 days. 2.5 weeks in and I am feeling the best I have in 9 months. Still bothering me but hardly at all. I suspect it will take the rest of the Bactrim plus another 2 - 4 weeks. I have no side effects of the antibiotics. Few points I have learned. Find the bacteria is 99% of the battle. Next gen sequencing has been a God send to me, if not for that, I would not be treating this correctly and may never kill the bacteria. Do not take a negative basic culture sample as a reason for "non bacterial prostatitis". It's bacterial until this test says different, (in my opinion). You must do everything and anything to deal with the pain until the antibiotics start work. For me, it was heat, ice, hot bathers. wearing a hip SI joint belt (for what ever reason pressing my hips together helped), took Cialis to help with blood flow (works well) and over the counter meds, Querciten with Bromelain (double the dosage) and DIM 200 MG (double the dosage). As a side not, I am on TRT and had my blood work done recently for hormone evaluation, my testosterone spiked for whatever reason causing the estrogen to spike which is not good for the prostate so I am not taking an E2 blocker to reduce that... I have had a Cystoscopy and a rectal ultrasound (both negative). I have had pelvis and lower back MRI's both negative. IM me if you would like the name of the next gen lab I used. Their are many and have not affiliation with them.

Thanks for the update, I'm glad to hear you're doing well. To get the next gen test do i have to go to a specific lab? Or can any doctor do that test?

Please PM me the lab that you mentioned.im going to see if I need a middle man (urologist) to have the testing done. I'd be curious to see the cost without having the insurance company kicking in something.

I recently went to CA to see a specialist who does only urethroplasty and he wanted a urine analysis AND microscopic exam. He said the latter in more important to him. I looked up what the microscopic testing is for:

Hi Jordan, Had to have a catheter put back in just after my last post as I could not pass water again as I could not get a catheter past my prostate. Two attempts by Nurses to get it in, but they made it bleed and next day District Nurse came out and tried to clean with water but could get water in but not out. She would not try and replace catheter due to past problems so was sent to hospital, and they managed to replace. Three days later blocked again so back to hospital for 24 hours, and managed to get them to take it out and let me try without. Passed water OK, but this weekend slowing down again, but spoke with Registrar while in hospital who agreed that best thing would be to remove Prostate but long waiting lists due to no money in NHS in Scotland, local area now £32 million in debt I believe. So still got to discuss with Consultant when I can get an appointment. I want Prostate gone now, and get rid of Prostatitis and blocked urine passages. So fed up with it all.

I don't blame you, Dave. Most men don't realize what terrible things a lot of men go through with their prostates.

Jordan, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but I got nowhere with trying to get advanced tests, but have had two months with no urine infection until last two weeks. My urine started to smell very sweet, a thing that I have not experienced before so I sent a sample in and low and behold the result is mixed growth. I have written to the robotic surgeon and asked for my prostate to be removed and he has agreed to see me hopefully in mid January to discuss. Saw my Prostatitis Consultant yesterday and he actually agreed it could be the right way to go as E/D and Incontinence I had already experienced and there was justification as MRI scan shows Cancer in Prostate although it is not growing. He agreed that I possibly had infection trapped in the Prostate and the A/B had partially got rid of it but not killed it off. Feeling extremely down as struggling to walk on one leg as waiting for Total Knee Replacement and they will not touch it if I have infection, and now other leg is in pain I think because I am compensating for my bad leg. Next week it is Dental implants and teeth extraction as tablets I have been taking for pain have given me "Dry Mouth" which apparently goes for your teeth. Think the week after it will be the Knackers yard !.
