Hi everyone hope you are all well & fighting fit today :0).

Well one week away from my knee op & I started to cough up blood again ! Luckily I had a sputum container handy so used that to cough into, filled it three quarters the way up in 5 mins of coughing ! Took it to the doctors & asked if I could see the SR nurse & was told she was busy & why did I need to see her, showed the receptionist the sputum container & she said take a seat & I will book you in now as she has free spot in 10 mins, surprise lol. Saw the nurse & showed her the sample, she was shocked at how much blood I had coughed up as I don't think anyone believed me in the past when I told them how much I was coughing up. She went & had a chat with one of the doctors then came back, she has taken a picture of the sample & saved it to her computer & is going to send the picture to the specialist at the respiratory clinic at the hospital along with a load of other notes, she is going to try to get me seen quicker now as I shouldn't be coughing up this much blood. I think the sample scared them a bit as now they going to also see why I get a burning in my chest everyday & why my chest & back hurt everyday, progress at last. Shame it took a sample bottle full of blood to get the ball rolling & not them taking my word for it, hay ho. Only thing is it might mean my knee op is cancelled next Monday as they might say my lungs aren't fit enough for the anaesthetic, will have to wait & see when I get to the hospital & see them.

They have even got you antibiotics sorted so I will have a supply at home to take straight away if it starts again so that's good news too. Well I'm sure I've waffled on enough now so I'll stop here lol. Hope you are all well & fit today, remember everyone, keep smiling & laughing & never give in :0)

Hello, Occasionally, I cough blood too. which always scares me. Actually I did some few minutes ago.

Some people take immediately antibiotics and some people not. My doctor said that if is not a lot wait and if it would be only one time I can avoid to take antibiotics, but if I would cough blood the day after so, I would need medication.

One member of this group said that the doctor said "Well are you so afraid when you have blood from your nose? No, so don't be so afraid of that cough also". I'm not a doctor, so I can't say so much but only giving examples of other people :-) Hope you are dooing better.
