After 15 years on tamsulosin 400 micrograms daily I discovered tadalafil (cialis) 5mg daily is now an option for BPH. ED had become a real problem but after less than a week the ED is barely evident and retrograde ejaculation is no longer the norm.. I feel much better too. I am so glad I had a chat with my GP and he changed my prescription

Great to hear that there is an alternative to Tamusolin and that Cialis is working for you. I've been on tamsulosin 400 micrograms daily for over a year now and they are gradually becoming less affective. Will talk to my GP.
Please excuse my ignorance but I'm struggling to figure out what ED means??

Has Cialis improved LUTS? I'd rather pee okay and have ED than not have ED but difficulty urinating. Of course both positive outcomes would be better. 😊

My flow is no better or worse than when I was on tamsulosin. My prostate is very enlarged but I can always pee.. additionally closing RE means my prostate which, because of the biopsies, Is full of scar tissue, now gets drained properly by normal, and at last pleasurable, ejaculation. I have read that it's more healthy to prevent a build up of seminal fluid in the prostate as that aggravates the pressure on the urether

No, the recovery was slightly slower as the catheter was left in to long but the end result better and a greater lowering of my PSA for some reason down from around 8.0 to 0.74.
Also UTI's and prostatitis seem to be a thing of the past although I have had epididymitis a couple of times.
I can quite easily not need a pee for many hours and pass between 500 and 600 mls.. When I last had a flow test and was checked for residue was practically nil.

Wondering why you are taking both as tamsulosin has such evil side effects as ED and RE .. I wouldn't touch it again after what 15 years of it did to me.
In the UK testosterone levels aren't normally taken .. just PSA and I tend to give a false positive. That's why I have had three invasive biopsies over that time.. no more! If I get any more high levels I will only allow a MRI to investigate them

My favourite Cialis/Viagra stories.
My diabetic brother in law was offered Viagra by his GP. He went home and told his wife. She said get it if you like but you won't be using it with me.
One Christmas eve I went to collect a prescription at the surgery. The person ahead of me was a big leather clad biker. The receptionist could not find it and asked when he had put his request in. He said yesterday and she told him that prescriptions take three working days to process so it would not be available until after Christmas.. Seeing his crestfallen look she asked if it was urgent and what it was for. Cialis he whispered. With a sympathetic look at him and trying to suppress a smile she said she would speak to one of the doctors. She goes away and returns to say that a doctor will do it for him if he can wait until he finishes his present appointment. His Christmas was saved.

I haven't seen my urologist since my last biopsy maybe five years back. My drug regime is in the hands of my GP. Who never discussed my drugs until I asked him last week.. bad really because drug reviews are supposedly mandatory on GPs. Had I been aware of the Cialis option I would have requested the drug change sooner..

I bet this is an atavistic reaction of male doctors (less rivals is better)...😊
