Hi it's my first day of orlistat and I am suffering a terrible headache, is this a possible side effect?
I am really looking forward to seeing how I get on with my weight loss
If anyone one has any snack or meal ideas I would really appreciate it and I would love to hear everyone's stories xxxxxx

Room for another one i hope!
I have been struggling with my weight for a long time and due to medical issues find it hard to exercise (i try though) My GP gave me Orlistat and i started it yesterday. I have been reading through all you guys posts and have to say im finding them all very useful..
I have quite a bit to loose, about 8 stone
All has went well as far as my food intake goes, i do have a major headache though but from reading here it seems to be a pretty common side effect. Im hoping that increasing my water intake helps.
Fingers crossed that in a few months i will be well on my way to the new me.
Well done to all of you that are succeeding and good luck to all o you that are just starting.

I must admit its easier to resist bad food as you know the side effects are awful.
I wish you best of luck and any questions just ask! Good luck.

The headache seems to have gone for now thank goodness, was making me feel sick last night it was that bad..
This coming week will be my biggest test, my oldest daughter goes into hospital for surgery so there will be lots of travel, odd eating times and late nights.. I WILL eat the best foods that i can.. Any other time it would have been takeaways and fast food places

Yeah my daughter is fine, she was born with a cleft lip and palate so this will be another surgery to help repair everything.. This one will be the biggest shes had as its a bone graft but all should go smoothly like the others xx

My doctor suggested I might like to try Orlistat, but said I should research it first as it is a real commitment. Having read all your stories I am quite keen but there are a few things I'm wondering about.
1. Where I work it wouldn't be possible for me to run to the loo often when I work all day (do one full shift a week). Could I not take the tablets that day or would it make no difference?
2. I'm vegetarian and find most of my meals contain a lot of vegetable oil and/or cheese. Anyone else in the same boat?
3. We have one takeaway or meal out of indian curry every week as our family treat, and don't eat much fat the rest of the time. How bad would this be (bearing in mind there's no meat at all anywhere in my diet).
Still making my mind up as I don't really want to change my lifestyle totally as I tried that before which made me miserable and actually increased my weight! My weight since then has been constant for the last 10-15 years and it has never varied by more than a couple of pounds.
Any comments or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I’ve just been prescribed Orlistat – I went to see my GP to get a blood test as I was concerned I may be anaemic again as tired all the time, It’s a reasonable assumption that my weight is contributing to tiredness; if I was carrying around 50kg of luggage all the time it’s be tiring, so the excess weight really isn’t too different.
I took a prescription on the basis I’d research it and decide whether to try it or not. I’ve spent much of today researching, including reading all the way through this thread – so thank you, many of the success stories on here have been instrumental in making up my mind to give it a try.
I’ve always been overweight, but have put on lots more since having a mirena coil fitted a year or so ago to address gynae problems – has anyone else experienced that?
So, off to the pharmacy tomorrow! I’m currently 110kg, and dress size 22 – halving my weight to 55kg would give me a healthy BMI, but I’m going to aim for 70kg, as the last time I weighed that (many years ago and not for long), I was a size 12, which I’d be amazed and delighted with – even though my BMI would still be 26, indicating overweight.
40kg to go!

Wow = that's nearly 10kg in two months! If I match that I could be under 100kg by new year - very inspirational!
I've been thinking about CBT recently, and wondered if anyone here had tried it to assist with losing weight?
I'd been considering it for a while; now I'm wondering whether to just give Orlistat a try, or whether to start CBT at the same time & attack the problem from all angles!

Glad to see everyone on here, sorry i have not been on for so long thought i'd update on my weight loss. I've been the blue pill for 5 weeks now and have lost one stone and 7 pounds i am so delighted. If you stick to the 15grams of fat per meal the weight will drop off and be careful on how much carbs your eating. Well done Fairy to you on yr loss - keep it up everyone speak soon.

I have always always struggled with my weight. I am 26 and when I went doctors in July 13 I weighed 15 stone (the heaviest I have ever been). I realised that it was time to take my weight loss serious. I lost 1 stone in 3 months on my own. I went GP the other day and he prescribed me orlistat, 1 tablet per day. I have been taking these for 3 days now.
Only side effect I have had is wind up until today. I have been eating salad and fruit but for some reason I have experienced a tango day today
. (Very sorry if tmi)!!!!
Not sure if I should continue with these tabs or not. Not seeing my GP until Jan 14 although i could bring it forward.
Reading the posts on here makes me want to keep going because you gave all done so well but if I am not eating fatty foods and experiencing this I don't want to
Anyone in the same boat as me?
