First fall

There was some water on the tiles in the bathroom, I didn't see it, and I have slipped and fallen, not very badly, but my operated leg skidded from underneath me, and a horrible pain shot through my hip. I am fine I think, shaky but fine. I know I haven't dislocated my hip, as I can still stand on it and walk, but the whole hip area is very painful, as well as my lower calf area. My groin especially feels bad why would that hurt so much? I feel quite shocked too...I was dreading this moment, which must come at some point to most of us.
I think my hip is okay in the sense there is no serious injury, even if it is really hurting, I know others have fallen too, how bad was the pain? And do I still need to get it checked by a dr? What can I do to ease the pain? Any suggestions. Any reassurance that I haven't damaged anything would be good, I am limping very badly when I walk.

With Easter around the corner, I would makean appointment with the doctors as it will give you peace of mind and a comfort blanket. You can always cancel it if you find you do not need it.
I am sorry I can not offer more help.

I think a fall is inevitable at some stage - but I think it is going to be fine. Thank you so much for your post.

Rest, ice on the affected area, cup of tea, look after yourself.
Possibly pulled something a bit? If in doubt, get checked out before Easter when it will be difficult to see a doctor.
Think, if you had slipped and fallenbefore your THR, you'd have been in some pain too, so you have probably (hopefully) done less damage that you imagine.

I knew the day would come when I would fall or slip, and I have been so very careful not to rush around or take risks, just didn't see the water in the bathroom, I would have 'ran' a mile had I seen it! I broke my fall which was good, and no harm done.
Thanks so much for your message. Now I know how Maggie and Lyn felt when they had their falls, it takes the wind out of your sails for a bit!

How did you fall? I don't feel my sense of balance has completely returned, I wonder when that changes...

I agree with Michael - better safe etc .... darn it, it just sneaks up on you, doesn't it -
I remember getting out of the car as a normal person , one leg at a time, and pulled that muscle in my groing so badly, I could barely stand on it and and not drive for at least a week -
What a bummer ... how do you feel about using a stick for a couple of days to help you walk????? it sucks , right
I don't think you damage anything, but have it checked anyway ...
Giving you a big warm hug
