First PAINFUL outbreak & I am on my period. HELP!

I found out four days ago that I have GH from my OBGYN. I started to feel the pain and noticed blistering the day before my appt. I naively thought I had a yeast infection because it had been awhile since I last had sex and even when I did he wore a condom.
So since Sunday, I have been in pain and I've had to call into work the last couple of days because I can hardly walk and I'm not able to sit. Since I've been home, I've been taking continous warm epsom salt baths and making sure to clean the infected area which is mainly on my left labia. Today I've noticed more blisters forming. I'm also convinced that I have blistering near my anus because it is very painful when I defecate so I have avoided eating anything heavy. I also have a hemmoroid that doesn't make going #2 easier.
I was prescribed acyclovir and have been taking it for the past two days. I don't feel like it's helping any. My NP also gave me some jelly to put on the sore but I've run out of it. I read that pure tea tree oil helps relieve the burning so I purchased some tonight along with 1000 mg Lyserine, some pineapple, and another bag of epsom salt (which has helped with the pain and cleaning of it).
The pain has been excruciating and I really want this outbreak to be over with so I can return to work, school and overall life! But to make matters worse I started my period today and I am beyond frustrated because I get a week long of a heavy flow period. Because of this, I rely on tampons so much but I don't even want to attempt using one because 1) I don't want the sores to spread 2) the pain! So I've been having to rely on pads which I hate. I'm getting into my heavier flow days and it's been such a hassle to continue to change out pads and clean the affected area all time.
Will the heavy blood flow prolong the healing process of the sores?
Is there anything else I could do to make it easier or more effective?
Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,
I haven't been told that I have ever GH...but the outbreak I am having it matching everything I'm researching. I got tested Friday for it so won't hear anything until this monday. Gynecologist said it definitely looks like GH though. It's my very first outbreak and it's EXTREMELY painful.. and I am on my menstrual cycle as well. It hurts to pee, shower anything. I have a dr note taking me off work for the past 3 days. I cannot sit, lay down, walk, move, anything. I had a melt down today because I havent been in this much pain ever. I got prescribed acyclovir BUT seriously that isn't working...it's actually just getting worse. I have speculated on going to ER today because the pain is so great, I am.in tears just peeing. Please tell me what todo, or what can I do.

I went through what you are going through minus the period. The pain didn't stop for me until about day 6 of 10 on valtrex. You can ask your doctor to prescribe more of the numbing jelly/serum, I did. Truthfully once I started using the squirt water bottle with a mix of water and tea tree oil the pain went away. I also used lemon balm after each bath/shower.

Hi Barbie - I know it’s scary, and the pain is/was crazy, but hang in there. I? had my first OB over a month ago. I? am a married woman, mother of 4, and contracted it from my husband. Don’t worry... we’ve been married for nearly 12 years, and he told me he had HSV-1 “down there” once we started getting closer to going all the way when dating. His ex had cold sores and he suspected he caught H from a blow J. His OB’s (aside from his first one) are mild and he gets them maybe MAYBE once per year. We were pretty careful at first and then we got lax. When i fell preggo 4 times, he got on valcyclovir daily and he wore condoms. Contracting during early preg can be deadly for baby. Outside of preg, we were lax about H and I’m surprised I didn’t catch sooner (no that I wanted that!). I’m have my second OB in 6 weeks, and I can attest to the first one absolutely sucking. This second one is mild in comparison . Feels like a razor burn, ingrown hair, and itchy, whereas my first hurt like hell, and I felt flu-like for a week. I’m not tying to blow off your concerns but there is light at the end of the tunnel! Do not worry about the future right now (having to tell a future bf) just focus on trying to relax, and alleviate pain. 800 mg Motrin is key, too! Don’t fret too much! You will get thruthis and will live a normal life!
