Flomax

I've been taking Tamsulosin (Flomax) for over 5 years and am dreading having to submit to any kind of surgical procedure. I will keep taking the medication until there is no other alternative but I live in the UK and Flomax seems to be unobtainable. Is there any alternative?
Many thanks for any suggestions

You have real currency, and NHS.... you can fly hear and get sorted
Not sure if they (NHS) offer this procedure though as its new technology - in SA the medical aids (Discovery ) only aproved it in the last 2 years - before that one would have had to pay.
It was about R50,000 then - and I was prepared to pay for it - so it came as a pleasant surprise that it was essentially free - not sure if the MRI was paid for - but that was only R5000 anyway.
I'd recommend having it done as it lets one have a restful sleep!- apart from having good sex ,or risking erectile dysfunction, incontinenece etc which you may have when they scoop out your most precious part of your body when doing TURP ( trans urethral blah blah blah..)

Mr P.
Yes, I doubt if the NHS offer this procedure and it would have to undergo a long evaluation process through NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) anyway. One of the new procedures offered through the NHS is PAE (PAE offers an alternative option. It blocks the blood supply to the prostate with small particles, which causes the prostate tissue to shrink and die.) I will be looking into this as well as the procedure offered in Durban because the last thing I want is to undergo any kind of "scooping" as you so graphically put it! The cost of the procedure in Rand converted to GBP would be approximately £2800 so as you say, a small price for a good sleep and no nasty side effects.
Thanks once again for your very welcome advice I now know that there is a genuine alternative to invasive surgery for BPH
Cheers
