Foamy urine

Hello there I am 54 and have been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate. Every time I urinate It looks like someone cracked open a beer bottle and dumped it in a glass. There is always alot of foam. If anyone has experienced this as well would be great to hear from you. I have been tested for protien in the urine and it comes back negative.

Drummer,
My father had a TURP done in 1990 and started urinating well again. He commented that he was happy to create bubbles again when peeing.

Drummer,
Yes, He was able to urinate much better, but he had incontinence for a year after the surgery.

Buy some urine dip sticks and test your own urine. You just urinate on the stick and the colors will change and tell you if something is going on.

Sometimes, I have bubbles in my pee too. They are not as much as the foam from a beer though. Other than the foam, do you have any other problems with your pee or peeing? If not, then I would not worry about it.

Hey Steven I was diagnosed with the enlarge prostate november 2018, I told my urologist that i was peeing more often and there was a stronger urge. He gave me a digit exam and said yep you have an enlarged prostate would you like some medicine. I accepted the medicine wich was flomax and tried it for about 2 weeks. I remember the very next morning after my first pill i almost fainted over the toilet having my morning pee. My stream was definately stronger but besides that nothing else realy changed except the side effects I was experiencing. I decided to stop the medication and change my diet and exercise oh yeah and also bought 3 bottles of a prostate supplement. Things were better but not perfect, but it was manageable. Then about 3 months ago I started eating foolishly had no more prostate supplements and now I am paying for it. Yesterday I woke up 3 times at night and peed about 100 ml each time also peed more than usual during the day and even more when I came home for work. Today I had my morning pee wich is about 200ml I then Drank 500ml of water and went to work. I drank 250ml of water at first coffee break and then 500ml of water at luch. I didnt get an urge to pee until after lunch wich is great for me. Had another 250ml of water at afternoon coffee break and then peed when I went for a crap. Came home from work and had another 250ml of water and still dont have a strong urge. So long story short usualy during work I am somewhat close to normal for urinating but when I get home I seem to start urinating frequent and sometimes 20 mins between urinations and then that urge feeling just seems to hang around. And now I am waking up at night wich I wasnt doing before. I apolagize that my reply is a little scrambled

Drummerplumber,
.
Take the IPSS to self-assess how bad your BPH is.
.
You can Google it and then do it on line or download a PDF that you can print out and then do with a pen or pencil. If your score is in the moderate range, then start to consider a medical procedure and begin researching the various ones available today and who you want to do it. Research is important.
.
You don't want to damage your bladder like I did. I had a Rezum a little over a year ago and my bladder is still recovering from the damage done by my severe (IPSS 28 or 29) BPH. Bladder damage takes a long time to recover from and sometimes it cannot be reversed. You don't want to damage your bladder.
.
Flomax as several side effects. Dizziness and fainting is one of them. It gave me blurry vision. I do not like Flomax.

Drummerplumber,

You are welcome. My BPH started up in my mid-50's too. I waited too long to deal with it. If I knew then what I know now, I would have taken care of it a lot sooner. I did not know about the IPSS until after I had AUR and they removed 2 liters of pee. Seeing a rookie DO with limited experience did not help either.

I have noticed over the years that when I had sex, my urine was foamy and bubbly. Any help?

Drummer,
Do you have any Retrograde Ejeculation, RE ? The ejaculate that goes into the bladder goes out with the urine afterwards.
The other thing is, for most people there urine stream is much stronger after sex. The prostate and bladder neck seem to relax and allow urine to flow out much better, especially if you have BPH.
One more thing about my previous post. My father had a traditional monopolar TURP in 1990 that lead to incontinence for a year, for him.
