Food after gallbladder surgery

Hi all,
I had my gallbladder out a week and a half ago. My doctor told me I could eat whatever I want, but I have been very, very cautious in an effort to avoid the nausea I was having before.
I've read people say after the surgery they can't eat this or that, or "you'll learn what you can and can't eat." What does that mean? What happens to you if you eat those foods? Diarrhea? Pain? Nausea? Vomiting? Several or all of these? I have had no negative reactions to food so far, but again, I'm being very cautious. I want to know what could happen if I start branching out and go a little to far. I'm already getting tired of chicken soup!
Thanks!

If you feel like eating you go for it..... Somepeople can eat normally after gb removal some not.... so it's a case of trying it to see .. good luck x

Hi Gill,
I'm still having nausea here and there, but it's finally seeming to be getting better. I had nausea just like before the surgery up until last week, which was 3 weeks after surgery, and suddenly I started having several good days in a row with a good appetite. I've only had about 2 episodes of nausea in the past week (when before it was almost every day). Also, when I eat I can still only eat smaller portions before I get full, but I have been able to eat anything I want including red meat and just tried a little of everything at Christmas dinner!
My surgeon said to give it at least 2 months for your system to adjust. If you're still feeling bad after that then it's probably a good idea to see the GI doc. Sorry you are feeling so badly, I hope it clears up soon!
