Hi I'm 45 yrs -Male. Having symptoms of SVT for the last 9 years but could never be diagnosed. Had multiple episodes lasted from 2 sec to 15 min but never showed up in any of the ECGs or halter monitor tests. Luckily last week when I was consulting a cardiologist for an expert advise, I had an episode in front of him. Smartly he did an ECG Which clearly showed that it is SVT. My heartbeat was 144. It came for to 94 in 15 mts and got to normal soon. I learned that I get this episodes when I am physically, emotionally or mentally stressed. Since I am much worried about it, the doctor suggested an ablation which I am planning to get it done in July when I visit my native in India. Otherwise I don't have any heart related issues as revealed in the echo test. However, since I have a strong family history of angina and also since I am 45 yrs now, the doctor suggested an angiogram too to be done along with ablation. Kindly share your opinions 1. Is ablation successful so that I can have a normal life with exercises and 2. Is angiogram is really required.... Thank you

The site I was linked to which for some unknown reason was not included was a lin to the youtube page of York Cardiology.  It includes a series of videos filmed by a Cardiologist which are very helpful in understanding many cardiac conditions including ectopic beats, anxiety and the use of magnesium.

I had a look at a couple of those videos, those are very informative. Have to watch more, the doc seems to be a specialist in anxiety, ectopics and palpitations. Thanks once again

    Dear All,

Writing this note from a post ablation bed. Had the procedure yesterday, the doctor was able to simulate palps and found the extra 'wire' causing my turbulance. Luckily it had very safe distance to be ablated.

My doctor was a thorough professional and kept on talking with me throughout the procedure which relaxed me while being induced with increased heartbeats on multiple occasions. I wouldn't say the procedure was a cake-walk but knowing that I was in the safe hands of the doctor in a superbly equipped hospital was certainly a much better situation than suffering an attack when no one is around or driving or at work.

I could walk around the room after 9 hrs after the procedure , and am able to walk freely this morning. Anyone who is concerned about having an ablation done should seriously consider it to be done as it is really worth it. As per my doctor, the cure is close to 100% and no chance for recurrence. I can start my normal life in 3 days time and resume my exercises in about 2 wks time.

Thank you everyone for encouraging me for the procedure as I think this will positively change my life, putting an end to the 'anytime possible' attack concerns.

Certainly relieved and smiling on my wedding anniversary day this morning...
