Fracture numerous head

I fractured the humoros head of my left shoulder on Christmas Eve as a result of a fall during ice-skating. It has been three weeks and my left arm is immobilized in a sling. I return in two weeks to the orthopedic physician who will then x-ray the shoulder again to be certain it is healing well. There was no displacement. I live in the US & wondered how long I will have PT. I'm also wondering when I will be able to use the left arm to hold a hair dryer so I can do my hair. I'm 57 years old & am so hurt when people say I was probably too old to be ice skating. Any replies on healing are appreciated. I'm really frustrated with slow process of healing.

Broke my elbow 3 pieces 3 months ago. Still have shoulder, neck, hand pain. I alternate between heating pad & ice packs, the kind you don't have to wrap. Got 2 so always have 1 frozen. Found sleeping on couch better than bed. Use couple of airplane neck cushions in square position for putting under arm, hand or wedged under armpit. Sleeping on back fairly flat seems to work best. I'm only taking acetamenephen as ibuprofen and other nsaids really did a number on my stomach. Read the literature. Do some range of motion exercises but more I do then a day of pain. Was told 4-6+ months for pain to disapate. Nerves, tendons whatever have been abused by surgery so will take a while to heal. Bed rest some days is all I can do. Other days can walk for an hour or so on flats with arm swinging naturally. Shoulders/elbows respond to small amounts of exercise. So "no pain no gain" doesn't seem to apply here. Your range of motion does improve but in tiny increments, from my perspective. I'm 73, was fairly active so at 57 you should heal faster. Try not to get depressed with the pain. A good "mate" is a life-saver. Good luck.

Well I can't believe it I was still off work getting over a incisional hernia op see other forum lol 4 than 4 weeks ago my shoe lace got caught on the clip on the other one and down I went i did it again 5 mins later for good measure hitting my hard as well . Isn't it painfull I find the bit of foam sling make my arm hurt even more so I don't wear it much except when I'm out. It strange the bottom half of my arm works fine but I can barely move the top half. I started pt this week i nearly cryed, he want me to do rock the baby movements sideways and out and back using my good arm to move the hurt one, he said try it laying down but I think that's harder as my arm feels heavy , walking to long is killing for my back and shoulder blades , and too me my bone feels lime it's twisted in . I'm worry about my job as I had two months off with my other operation and was due back the week after my fall. It's the middle of the night as I write this on my phone as sleep is taken in fits and starts . I have another X-ray in a week or two I hope there is some improvement then sue
