From Morning to Night

Has anyone switched their meds from morning to night after being on them a while? I stay so tired all day even after getting a good nights sleep. Ive been on the meds for four months and wasnt sure if my body would go nuts switching abruptly. Thing are bad enough as they are. I dont want to do anything to make it worse.

I agree! As Chris and Lois said a drop was great for me too. I felt better almost immediately and within a week I was doing things I hadn't done in years. Here it is almost 2 months later and still feeling pretty good considering how I felt for so long.

I'd say if you're still feeling so anxious possibly try to reduce, I think you said your doc wanted you to stay where you are but sometimes we have to decide what is right for us seems though we are the ones taking it.

I also have always taken mine at night, and I really think its better.

You got his Laura! Fingers crossed you will get this right soon and start to feeling better 😃

I moved my dose from 8:30am to 2:30pm today. Then, tomorrow, I'll move it to 8:30pm. AND I am going to try 25mg instead of 30mg. Heres hoping I dont royally screw something up!!

      hi laura

i had a great lady doctor who i had very briefly unfortunatly & she advised me if i want to drop from 20 to 20 to do 1 day 20 mg

      2 day 15 mg

      3 day 20 mg

4 day 15 & so on then level on 15 mg, that way your only dropping 2.5 mg at a time if thst makes sense & she said its a tried & tested theory she sticks with.

im a complete beginner & am only 16 weeks into 20 mg myself, i dont fully understand the workings of the medication & i know it affects everybody differently & at different stages, just wanted to share, hope it helps.....take care

Thanks Rob! I might try that so its a slower process.

After going back through my journal, I realized I had several days (close to a week) where I didnt even have any symptoms on 20mg and that was only 4 weeks on the meds. I havent had a single day on 30mg where I was anywhere close to having no symptoms. I went up too quicky to 30, I believe, after a blip at 6 weeks. I hadnt found this page at that point so I upped the dose. Now after 10 weeks on the 30mg, Im just sick of no improvement. Its worth a shot to try 25mg and see if anything improves. If if doesnt, then I could try 20mg again. Worst case is I see no improvement but that no worse off than I am now. Hopefully doing it slowly will help me not have a withdrawal.

thats exactly right laura.im thinking the 20 was your go to milligram.

      Lois,

Do you think going from 30 to 25 is safe? Or should I do 2.5mg decreases? I really dont want to add withdrawal symptoms to my list of issues!!

    • Posted

i think you will be fine .you are not weaning off completely .so i think you will be safe.the drama starts when you are weaning completely off.but since you are only doing a reduction i say fine.i reduce 20 to ten .and because i was already feeling s****y i went for it.

do what ever fits you right laura.reduction for comfort is different then weaning off completely.

I woke up with increased anxiety and its now noon and after two Xanax am still feeling anxious. I dont know why I am surprised. I think I secretly hoped I would have woken up feeling a little better after making the dose/time changes, even though I know its not likely to change overnight.

    • Posted

it took me a few days to notice a difference .but i went from night to mornings.

    • Posted

how long did it take you to feel different after you decreased? I woke up this morning thinking "What have I done?" about reducing my dose, but I know thats probably just my anxiety talking!

    • Posted

oh i notice it instantly.the severe headaches where gone.still had drama.but not dramatic.

Day 11 update-After reducing to 25 from 30 and moving it to bes time, I only notice a very slight improvement. I'm not quite as anxious in the morning, but still anxious enough to need Xanax. I havent seen any improvement in my fatigue. I sleep really well but still wake up so tired. It makes no sense how you can be so fatigued and crawling out of your skin with anxiety at the same time. Im wondering if I need to decrease again to 20mg. I wasnt as fatigued on 20 .I do prefer taking them at night, so Im definitely going to stick with that.

      hi laura

isnt it so frustrating with this med, there is no set path that everybody takes, everybody id different.

Has there been any change at all, even the slightest thing?

Im still going to reduce after my holiday in 3 weeks, im on 20 but everything i read is 10 mg for anxiety.

I went to a wedding at the weekend all day job & got through it, its a little victory for me because theres no way i could have done it 6 months ago.

I hope you start to feel less anxious laura soon, its just absoultly exhausting being on edge all day!

im intrested to know how you are with this & how your feeling.

      hopefully sunshine ahead

      take care

Thanks Rob. I just got home from our family vacation to Chicago and did well for the most part. I am still much much worse than before I started the meds, but if I am only looking for improvements after beginning the meds, then I would say, yes, I have improved. But, its hard to call it improvement when the meds have mad me worse than before starting them. Id call it improvement if I had noticed anything better than before I started it. All that to say, I do see a small improvement after reducing and wondering if going down further, to 20mg, would be worth a shot. I am glad to hear you made it through a busy weekend and I hope you are able to enjoy your vacation in three weeks. I can say I have felt no withdrawl issues from reducing by only 5mg, so that is good! Id say its worth a shot for you!

Eh. Still testing out stuff like clean eating, magnesium, and CBD oil. Im hoping to find the right combo soon. Nights this week have been fine but mornings are still awful. I skipped a physical therapy session yesterday morning bc I couldnt make myself walk in. UGH!

I hope your vacation is a good distraction for you. Both of mine this summer have been and have turned out better and more enjoyable than expected! Is your vacation a relaxing one or a busy one? Both of ours have been more active with a lot to see and do. I probably wouldnt have done as well going somewhere and sitting for a week.

i went from 10mg to 5mg to 4mg felt good then terrible updosed to 6mg been on that for a year trying to settle x

I reduced again last night (after almost three weeks since I reduced from 30 to 25) to 20mg. I'd like to stick to this dose for some time and see if I improve. I dont think I gave it enough time to work before we increased to 30mg. Im hoping to lower dose will make me feel less "drugged" and the fatigue and shakes settle down. Ive now been on celexa for 19 weeks so I know Im still early, but Id much rather be on a lower dose if it works just as well as the higher dose with less side effects! And, now, I can stop cutting the pills! Here's hoping! How is everyone else?

Laura I know that you have been through a lot, and your situation was so similar to mine. I really feel that you should start feeling some relief from the decrease and hopefully soon!

Rob, yes three weeks. But, I reduced again two days ago, so now Im back on 20mg. I actually do think the reduction has helped. Not a ton, but some. I started CBD oil, as well, and I think its also helping. I havent needed my second dose of Xanax four days this week, so thats definitely improvement. At this point, MOST days I only have about an hour of bad anxiety a day and it always happens at wake up. Once I am up and moving, Im usually ok. The rest of the day the anxiety is more in the background, but not gone.

I wish I was going camping in the south of France. That sounds magical! I bet you will enjoy that more than you think! Just look at it one day at a time. That helped me.

      Thanks for keeping in touch!!

      hi laura

im glad your feeling a little bit better due to reduction, its true with me during the day that my anxiety is in the background also, nobody would ever know but i know its there!!!!!

hopefully theres calm waters ahead for you, ive just started to get the morning anxiety which i really do not like!!

its a week till i go away and i can feel the tension building up inside me, what on earth am i worried about? how did you cope with your trip? the before trip excitment/anxiety?

      take care

    • Posted

I had to stay busy and take extra Xanax leading up to the trips. Doing the same today because we are leaving town for the weekend and anxiety is up. Of course the minute my anxiety gets worse, I question reducing, but my husband keeps telling me to stop! We'll see! Do you drink caffeine? Do you eat a good breakfast?

anxiety is always higher first thing because of cortisol! i walk before breakfast to burn it off x

    • Posted

hi rob, mine is a long story, but basically until withdrawal i had never suffered anxiety, ive come off mirtazipine 3 times, and want to get off this too! its brutally hard to some to come off, others not so much x
