Frozen Shoulder

Posted , 14 users are following.

I have had a frozen shoulder since November 2016. It is now February 2017. I have been prescribed Naproxen, Vicodin, and Percocet. They take the edge off, but nothing really helps. I had a cortisone shot 3 weeks ago that helped for a week, but this week nothing helps. I am in agony, I can't find a comfortable position to sleep in, a comfortable position to work in. Nothing helps. It is a constant burning that runs down my arm. If I turn the wrong way tears come and the pain is so intense it makes me nauseas. If I can get my husband to rub it that will help temporarily and I had a massage last week that was great.

I can't live with this for years till it thaws

    Hi,

Firstly, I know just how you feel and I know exactly what you're going through - I was exactly the same.  This time last year I started with frozen shoulder but now, a year later I'm in no pain at all.  I've got most of my forward movement back, a lot of my side movement and enough external movement to be able to do almost all if the day to day things I used to do.  I'm sorry the cortisone didn't last long.  Did your GP give you the cortisone.  I had my shots in September but was advised to go via a shoulder specialist who could see things a GP cannot see.  He put the shots right into the inflammation which was less than pleasant and it took three weeks for it to kick in but once it did the pain almost completely subsided and I no longer needed any extra pain relief.  I've passed out with pain with sudden movement and you really do have my every sympathy - it's a horrible complain that you just can't explain to anyone unless they've suffered with it. Please take heart - this doesn't have to last for anything like as long as most of the medical websites tell you and I know how hard it is to keep having to put a brave face on things when inside you feel like crying with pain and tiredness but it will go, I assure you.  Just know that wherever you are, I'll be thinking of you right now and sending you positive healing thoughts x
