frozen shoulder not sleeping

Hi all of you out there, Now I really understand constant pain and I really sympathise with you all. When I was first diagnosed it meant nothing to me I was going on holiday to a hot country and thought it would right itself. I cannot afford to stay off work, but am drugged up to the eye-balls but that does not cover the pain, I am not able to do anything I planned and have very sleep interupted nights. I am waiting to see a Surgeon , the Physio said that there was nothing they could do - I lost over 50% movement from the start, so the pain, the longevity of this condition combined makes it all very gloomy. So all the best to you fed-up people out there, I just hope that you can have a comfortable night and get some sleep.

I've been doing my exercises each night before bed and massaging Tiger Balm into my shoulder pain areas. I'll also take an 800 Motrin. It's not perfect, but I've gotten more sleep. Sometimes I do it twice. I've actually been able to get 5 straight hours in one night on occasion.

Is there a reason to do exercises right before bedtime? Sounds like it might cause you pain whine your body is trying to settle down to sleep. You might want to try the stretches earlier. Remember to do your movements slowly and when you hit the stop point, stay there with a little stretch for a minute. Your body is throwing down scar tissue to protect you since your tissue is inflamed. You don't want to increase the inflammation. Heating pads before may help, especially with cold months coming, right before you stretch. There are also collagen supplements that will help with inflammation. This problem will take over your life for a while but does stop.

Hello everyone I have been reading a lot of everyone's comments on this topic of frozen shoulder. I was diagnosed with 7mos ago. I have done therapy to cortisone Injections and chiropractic care, with no relief and of course pain meds don't even help anymore. My sleeping at nite is non existent. The pain is even worse at nite. So now my orthopedic surgeon is recommending arthroscopic surgery. I'm not really sure what to do, because I do have osteoarthritis., but I'm so tired of being in so much pain, I'm a hospice nurse so I have to use my arms at all times. Now I have to have assistance at work because of lack of range of motion. So just wanting some information from others rather or not they have had the surgery or the long term effects from the procedure.

Visited Mr Sankey today who is reputed to be one of the UK's top shoulder surgeons who diagnosed me with frozen shoulder. Felliwsufferes I you have my full understanding and considerations.
It is honestly one of the most painful things I have experienced and totally exceeds to pain I suffered from a broken neck. Sleep is impossible and I have still not found a solution. The best yet seems to be wrapping the arm and shoulder in a sheet secured on top of you to elevate it off the bed without putting any pressure under it from a pillow etc.
The Dr confirmed it is only ever possible to get true frozen shoulder or adhesive capsultits as it is formally known once in each shoulder and other similar shoulder problems which reccur are resulting from neck problems.
I have only had the problem for about 6 weeks and am already beside myself. It is my dominant arm, I am sleep deprived in non stop agony and already completely restricted in movement. I have been told that a treatment whereby the scarred shpulder capsule is dilated with a combination of saline to stretch it and break down the scars and adhesions, and the addition of cortisone to reduce inflammation and pain, is the first treatment and can be offered early. This is done with a contrast dye under xray or ct scan. It may he needed THREE TIMES. (Unsurprisingly I've signed up straight away)
Apparently This usually works but If it doesn't a short keyhole procedure is done as a part day case which cures the condition completely. Physiotherapy is not usually the recommended option in the freezing (painful) stage, only the later frozen stage to increase movement.
Meanwhile my pain is defiant of my cocktail of high dose codeine, paracetamol and ibuprofen and another sleepless night awaits. I'm counting the hours until my procedure!!!
