Frustrated

With All The Vertigo Issues I Have Been Having, two things are so frustrating to me because one minute you are feeling normal and the next your world is upside down with no notice.
My next frustration is my family. I am 62 years old and am retired but help my daughter and her husband raise their kids so they can follow their careers And take vacations all over the world.
When this bout of vertigo hits with no notice I am in bed for days. My family is not supportive and feel inconvenienced because they feel I am making it all up. Wow!!! Sorry I Got Sick 😞
I just needed to vent because I Know everyone here understands and I Appreciate All of you.. 😘

That's terrible! You are definitely not appreciated. Your actions really depend on your particular scenerio. It would be nice for you to be busy on your own vacation next time they come asking. I realize that would be hard on you since you probably love the kids so much.
I am sure we have all experienced this attitude with people or family at one time or another - I totally understand.
Good luck!! 😆

My son in law was upset and I asked him what was wrong. He said that my daughter wanted him to go with me to my appointment so they could get confirmation that there is truly nothing wrong with me and I am faking.
Of course he didn't go with me. But I totally invited him to go so he could hear the truth but he refused.

Wow that's terrible!!! It's hard to give advice since I don't know your whole story but perhaps your counsellor can suggest how to deal with your daughter. I would be careful at what advice you take on the forum since there may be a negative outcome like perhaps she may cut off visits with the grandkids or ? Good luck - I will pray for you.

This is so bad! I Agree you need to talk to,your counsellor about this and get advice on how to deal with them. Secondly as i say ,got,to,VEDA website and find the info, that relates to you, prinit off, put in an envelope and give to your son, Saying, 'This is what I am dealing with'!

If you knew how many times I been asked about my vertigo and what triggers it cause they have a older relative who "says" it comes at a inconvienient time for them. Omg. Like it's a enjoyable thing to not be able to do much more than sit or lay in a room and stare at the wall, and go pee. Ask about weather changes affecting it, etc. Those are the times I wish everyone could experience this nightmare for themselves. Just say once a year. But not at a convenient time . Randomly like us. Never knowing when it will hit. Or where you will be. Not knowing if it will be just a minor spin. Or a all out 3 day violant spin with 3-6 months of dizziness to follow. Then the anxiety of wondering when the next bout will hit. Today, tomorrow, next month, next year. See if they think it's a game. The site I play games on i bet I had 20 or more discussions about it with people cause they think there parents, grandparents are faking it. If you never had it, you have no idea. I have been asked before how I liked my vacation. I wanted to ...... Well let's just say I wasn't happy. Not like I went to Vegas and spent my money on a good time. I gave it to a bunch of docs who looked at me and said no idea why you have it. Theres no cure. Hope you feel better. Good luck.

This illness is horrible and I don't wish it in anyone. It is unbelievable that when I have these bouts I am basically on my own not even offered a glass of water. But when they have a cold or a headache it's bedtime for 3 or 4 days, Wow how about your kids?
I started this chat because I wondered if anyone else was experiencing the same thing.
Thank You And Have Good Evening ?

I know - we have all prob. been there.
I have recently changed the way I talk about it though to others. I no longer explain it in laymans terms but use the medixal dx. and say I have benign positional vertigo ? Menierres. Since, normal people experience a different sort of dizziness - they don't understand what we go through. I then go on to quickly explain the dizzy spells stating that's it not dizzy like lightheadedness but like your drunk without drinking. How the rooms spins and the vomiting and ect. - I have been getting a totally different response instead of oh ya i' ve had that ( when on fact they have not had what we go through)

We have a couple people on our game site have it. One has menieres and had a operation. Doc screwed her ear up bad. She got heated. Said don't assume they are sick go inconvenience you. This is not fun. My brother called me up one time about in tears. Said he got a small taste of it. Had a inner ear infection. Wanted to know how I can stand having it all the time. I said I have no choice in the matter. Tryed begging it to go away, didn't work. Prayed for it to go away, nope, didn't work either. Tryed medical help, nope, still here . Lol. You have 2 choices ang. Ignore there ignorance and forgive there selfishness as they know not the suffering you go threw. Or shut them out. But I will tell you from experience. The latter is a lonely place. Someday they may find out your not faking it. Some of these problems are hereditary sometimes. My great grandfather had it,my grandmother had it, my dad had it. Now I have it.

I try that to di. I ask them you ever been about double over your limit on alcohol? Most say ooooo yes. I say well drink more. Try to lay down. But when the room spins violently and you throw up, it DOEST STOP! It keeps spinning. You keep throwing up. It keeps spinning. It can go on for minutes, hours , days. Then try to explain to family, or your employer why you can't leave the house. Noone knows how you feel. They assume right off, your faking it. I have even called work said my car broke down so I didn't have to deal with the crap. They accept that better.

Lucky for me that it's not as bad as it could be. Or they are talking behind my back lol. I have had people not understand at work but believe it or not - a couple of other girls in my office have gotten different ear conditions so not always but more understanding, however, i seem to have the most flare ups but then I have BPPV. My sister and mother are dx with it. My brother gets dizzy but not sure if diagnosed . So I think the hereditary thing might be true. 😆
