Gabapentin side effects

Hi, I’ve been on Gabapentin for about 4 to 6 weeks now for a burning sensation in my right arm and right thigh. Now I’m experiencing burning sensations across the back of my shoulders, on my legs and calf’s. I also have heat waves for time to time.

Has anyone else had burning sensations in these areas and hot flashes from take Gabapentin?

I’m not sure if it’s helping or hurting.

    Although this is not listed as one of the side effects, I'd check with the pharmacist. If you are on other prescriptions, it may interfered with gabapentin?

      Jacque I’m on morphine 50 mg 2x daily and 5 mg oxycodone 3 x daily  2 months ago I was on 60 mgs of morphine 2 x daily , just going down 10 mg in the morning and 10 mg at night was a real journey , that was really 20 mgs a day and that’s a lot at least for me , next month I’m going to have the doc lower it to 40 mg of moriphine 2 x daily in about 4 month when I get down to 30 mgs I know I’ll feel so much better

    I was on an extremely low dose and I have burning in my arms and across my shoulders. I have stopped taking but how long will the burning continue. Never had this problem before starting this horrible drug. I will suffer with the pain before I take this. My doctor is ordering me zoloft I will see if that helps.

      Hi BCGirl,

      I had no clue either when I first started taking it. I have the very same symptoms as you. I don’t have any reall answers, I’m trying to ween myself off of it as we speak.

      Thanks for the reply. Ended up at the ER this morning as the burning and anxiety was so bad. Before I was discharged asked the doctor about and he said no idea and I shouldn't have just quit. I was only taking 75 mg daily for 9 days didn't think it would be a big deal. Boy was I wrong I will never take this again. I even tested my ex brother in law to warn him because last I saw him he said he was going to call to get his increased. He can have mine

      I read up on this gabapentin after 30 days it still can be in you system just depending on how well your kidneys are working after taking this nasty drug  because it can put you in renal failure what a night mare two days ago was my last dose and it still feels like I’m on it

      Wow, that’s scary! I’m down to 300mg every 12 hours. I’m gonna cut that I’m half next week, and then cut that in half again.

      By the way, how are doing Ron. Where do you call home?

      I call home Lincoln Nebraska,I guess is what I have to say is the risk of this drug is way to high for the good it has done , and that is nothing except rob my body of vitamins and minerals ,by the way check out this book I just ordered from Barnes and noble drug muggers by Suzy cohen
