Yes, gallstones can cause these issues. Have you had any medical tests?

Most doctors look for the classic symptoms of gallbladder disease, and pain is one of them. I myself had no pain, but I had nausea and diarreha. I was weak and dizzy. I lost over 30 pounds. Though ultrasounds picked up some stones, no one thought it could be a problem. My liver function tests were a bit high, nothing more.
If you're not seeing a gastroenterologist, I suggest that you get an appointment with one. Additional tests need to be run, such as a liver function blood panel, and a HIDA scan. A CT scan would also be good, because an ultrasound doesn't always show sludge and small stones. Your gallbladder could be brimming with stones, and an ultrasound wouldn't show it.
A surgeon "took a chance" on me and removed my gallbladder. It was brimming with stones and very diseased. I would hate to think how ill I could have become if my doctor had insisted that I wait for pain symptoms to develop. By that time, my diseased gallbladder could have fused to my liver or worse.
I suggest that you insist that additional tests be performed by a gastroenterologist, who can better diagnose and treat you. I hope this information helps!
Let me know how you do!

Hi, Pam,
The nausea went away for me. But I had another issue. The diarreha was caused partially by my diseased gallbladder, but also because I have a condition called bile acid malobsorption.
I take medication for it now, and keep to a low fat diet.
One more thing, they will need to remove the gallbladder. They do not remove the stones...once your body starts to make stones, it doesn't stop. I think it would be best to see a gastroenterologist, as that is the specialty that can properly diagnose and treat you. Neither gps nor surgeons can.
Take care!

Hi Pam, it took a while for my condition to stabilize. I try to keep to a low fat diet. I use grass fed butter, coconut and olive oil to cook with. I also minimize my sugar intake and stay away from foods that contain high fructose corn syrup. I can use milk with no lactose in it, cream, an cheese. So, I am pretty lucky. I still take the medication and have to use immodium at times. But I'm not nauseated any longer.
You might also ask the doctor you see to investigate whether you have a hiatal hernia!
Please let me know how you get on!

Please guys I need some help and you all seem to know a bit about this issue. I have had some constant nausea for about a week now. I can't eat anything and even the sound smell and pictures of food make me sick. I feel like it's my gb as it will feel a bit uncomfortable from time to time. But I don't have constant pain in it. Is this normal or no? I don't have fever but do get body chills also. Doctor put me on nausea medicine and some prilosec. Help me...

Hi Amanda,
Gallbladder symptoms aren't the same for everyone. Not everyone presents the classic symptoms of intense pain, nausea and vomitting, the ones that doctors like to see.
I suggest you ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist, who will know what tests to run and how to diagnose and treat you! GP's are often. clueless, and prefer to treat the symptoms rather than the disease, hence the nausea meds and prilosec. Your GP is probably hoping that the symptoms resolve themselves in time. That won't happen if it's your gallbladder.
Try to eat low fat and small frequent meals. You can look up the fodmap diet on line. That's helpful for some people.
Best of luck to you, and please let me know how you get on! xx

I have lost quite a bit of weight because I can't seem to eat anything. Is this normal, I feel like I'm losing my mind with all of this overthinking it all and worrying about every pain.

I understand what you're going through. It's awful to feel so ill without knowing what's wrong. But you won't have any resolution until you start seeing a doctor who's willing to find out what's going on rather than just treating the symptoms, as your GP is doing. xx

I feel like I'm crazy because nobody I know has ever experienced this. I keep googling symptoms and I can't get 100% diagnoses. According to google I have everything from HIV to being pregnant. I keep telling myself no two symptoms are the same 😔

You're not crazy. Symptoms aren't enough information in order to diagnose a disease. One needs blood tests and other tests. That's why the only way to find out is to see a competent doctor who will work with you to find out what's happening.
You might feel frightened to go to a doctor, but it's the only way you can begin the process of discovering what's going on--and to get to feeling better. xx

Hi Lynda, I was reading more of your comments as I was trying to find someone to relate to. I saw that you strictly had nausea and diarrhea and were weak and dizzy. This is exactly what I am experiencing. I have a hida scan tomorrow. But everyone thinks it can't be my gallbladder if it's not painful to touch. My nausea is all day every day and I have to force myself to eat every day. Is this similar to what you were experiencing?

Hi Amanda,
Sorry you're feeling like this. I remember what it was like. I would wake up every morning, feeling as if I needed to eat, whether I was nauseous or not. I'd have a bit to eat and become more nauseated, and within 10 minutes the diarrhea would start. After it stopped, and I'd go multiple times, I was exhausted, and would need to lie down.
I would start to feel a bit better in the afternoon, and could eat some in the evening. In the morning, it would start over again. I lost 30 pounds, but I had little or no pain.
I almost lost my job over it. In the end, I was existing on gatorade and two slices of cinnamon rasin bread. I wouldn't eat until I got to work. Then, I'd stay in the bathroom till the diarrhea stopped and go about my day.
I finally told them I was in pain to get surgery, though the ultrasound showed only a few medium sized gallstones. When the surgeon removed my gallbladder, it was filled with small stones and sludge.
I hope this helps!

Hi Amanda,
I've been wondering how you were doing! I'm glad that they found something--please let me know how you get on! xx

Thank you Lynda, I saw the surgeon today he is removing my gallbladder next friday. I feel somewhat discouraged as I feel my symptoms don't match up to what he expects to see. I feel extremely dizzy most of the day and feel as though something else is going on. I can't pinpoint it but I feel as though I just don't feel right...something is going on and I'm not myself. My GP is happy to push me to a surgeon and I feel as though I'm going crazy I guess all I can do is have it removed and hope that eliminates all symptoms.

Hi, Amanda,
A poorly functioning gallbladder impacts all the associated organs--resulting in many symptoms. Of course, you don't feel right.
Have you had blood tests? Usually your liver and pancreatic functions will reflect gallbladder problems. How long has it been since your last pap smear?

I'm glad your pap smear was fine. Do you know what type of blood work was performed? Did they do a complete blood count, or a liver panel? If you had gone to a gastroenterologist, besides the HIDA scan, the following tests might have been performed as well, a colonoscopy and an endoscopy, a CT scan and/or an ultrasound to check for gallstones.
