Gallbladder disease or Chronic Pancreatitis

Hi all, looking for advice/personal experience. I have had recurring RIGHT sided pain under my ribs to the side and up my back. Slight loose stools (normal colour, float after a lot of vegetables, no oil) weight loss some intentional but lost some recently through worry. Normal ultrasound scans x2 and normal MRI and MRCP. I have "flare up of pain which can last either a few hours or get worse over a few days and then disappear for a while. If it eat chocolate I can make the pain return but not badly. My bloods are all normal (amylase, fats, triglycerides, LFTs, FBC, Tumor Markers). My query is this, I went to see the surgeon yesterday with the intention of removing my gallbladder. He stated to me it's probably not my gallbladder and more liked chronic pancreatitis? Now I am worried. I thought pancreatitis pain was predominantly left sided? And I don't think my symptoms full fit chronic pancreatitis (please advise if you think this incorrect). I do have some tingling pains below my left ribs but i am being treated for gastris. My pain and issues come from my right side, mostly to the side of my ribs. I was told by a doctor in a&e who examined me that it was probably sledge or a diseased gallbladder which wouldn't show in blood work or scans and I would have the symptoms I have. Please help! I just would like to know your thoughts or personal experience with either disease. I am 31 years old, 3 children (2 by section), one recently, on the estrogen only mini pill and omperazole.i weigh 8 stone 10lbs. I did some drinking in my 20's but this was on and off and never back to back days. It was for roughly 4 years and one day at the weekend and not every weekend! I have had very good health until everything started to hurt after the birth of my 3rd child. Pains started in my 8 month of pregnancy. I have endometriosis. I have had the following surgeries (lap lazer for endo, lap keyhole removal of gangrenous appendix and 2 c-sections.

Thank you for reading and taking the time to reply.

    Hi Gem,

That is good news, I'm sorry I was replying to you but must have pressed something wrong and it disappeared. I would like to know what the answer is. Maybe with all these tests they can come up with something to help you. Take care.

you are showing classic signs of Pancreaitis and probably should have gone to ER the other day your symptoms are similar to mine so low fat diet will help plus stay away fro diary chocolate and high acid foods they say my gallbladder is fine and don't know what caused my pancreaitis but I'm now cursed with this everyday problem

Hi all. Just an update for you. I saw the pain management team and he has diagnosed me with chronic widespread pain syndrome used to be know as fibromyalgia.

I have my gastro app at the end of April.

My bloods are all normal and my MRI was normal (still waiting for my pelvic MRI results). My feacal elastase stool results were also normal.

I still have loose stools sad pain on left and right sides. I am maintaining a weight of 8st 10lbs at the moment which I am happy about. I hate losing weight!

I have started taking some digestive enzymes from a health store to see if they make any difference. I'm also now taking my 800ui daily maintanance vitamin d dose.

New symptoms are headaches and dizziness with a strange pressure in my eyes sad I feel a bit off balance as well. I'm hoping just a migrane!

Hi, I have just searched for a forum on Gallbladder/Pancreatitis nd am amazed I actualy found one.

My story is that about two/three weeks back I noticed that my stomach area was really bloated almost overnight.  I do suffer from IBS so assumed it was that again.  Early last week I decided to go for a walk to our local shops when a severe pain shot through my back under my right shoulder blade which lasted for about 10 minutes.  I thought it was going to be a heat attack s managed to walk to our local chemist where they gave me some water which helped.  My stomach was still bloated so decided to go to the Dr. who thought is was a recurrance of IBS.  Two days later (last Thursday) I  started to get a weird pain at the bottom of my right breatbone which seemd to go through to where I got the pain on my walk.  It isn't a terrible pain just a niggly uncomfortable pain.  On reading up on gall bladder problems and noticing that my symptoms could be my GB I decided to go to the Dr.  I am now waiting to get an ultra sound at the local hospital.  I have tried since two days ago to cut out food with fat in and the pain seems to  have subsided but my stomach  feels nauseas.  My stools seem to be darkish, not pasty so far, and I do have a headache.  Does any of this sound like how your problems started.  I did buy some takeaway food about a month back (fish and chips) and my first mouthful was immediately bought up and I had a terrible bout of sickness which lasted about 2 minutes.  My Dr today asked me if gallbladder/Pancreas problems were in the family.  They are not.

Gallbladder disease, gallstones or sludge can cause pancreatitis as the gallbladder and pancreas are very intricately connected.

    Gem,

It really sounds like Acute Pancreatitis as you sad it comes and goes. I had my gallblaader removed in 2010,'and was still in pain around the clock. In 2014, after fightng the pain for 4 years, the Dr's decided that I needed the dreaded Whipple Procedure. So on April 20th I,went under the knife for 10 hours to have the  head of the Pancreatis removed, bttom of stomach removed and small intestine was usedmto tie me back together.

Does it feel better when you take a hot bath?'what about bending over in a ball? If you can afford it, get a hot tube, it is nice for the Pancreatitis
