Gallbladder is gone so where is this pain from?

HI
Had the dreaded gallbladder removed last June after only 7 months of pain (so I'm pretty lucky).
Everything went well, home the same day - took a good 4 weeks to feel totally better after the op but eating was ok and I don't seem to be affected by bowel issues like some people.
Only problem is I have dull ache in exactly the same place I used to get the gallbladder pain. It's not intense pain but it's in the front RUQ under my ribs and moves round the side and to my back.
It doesn't seem to appear after anything in particular and most of the time it's there constantly. Suppose it's more of an annoyance than anything else because I'm always aware of this ache. I'm quite reluctant to go to my GP because after spending about 7 months constantly in the surgery last year updating painkillers and nausea pills I don't want them to think I'm addicted to medical attention.
Just wondered if anyone had anything similar or if it's just a by-product of surgery that I'll have to get on with?
Thanks

Sorry to know that. I also have a friend of mine who has rhe same case with me. The thing is, his gallbladder was removed almost 2 years ago.
And oh yes, it's quite hard for me to digest fatty foods. My belly is always bloated everytime i eat bacon or red meat. I am having a hard time losing weight.

This forum is driving me nuts. I sent a message to the moderator asking where my post is. I can't find it either. If I get no reply I will write the post again. I assumed the people on this forum were from the USA but realize some might be from England. Choline/coline is a B vitamin. I think it is B7 not sure. For me here in the USA coline has been miraculous for the side ache. And I got relief within 30 minutes after taking it the first time. Let me see if the moderator will respond. You might even send the moderator a message asking for my original post. I did not save a copy as I assumed I would find it.

I'll tell you from years of experience take one to two tablespoons of raw all natural honey. Not the fake honey at the store and your pain will disappear in 10 minutes. God bless.

I had my gallbladder removed 11 years ago. It took about 9 before the pain quit coming on relentlessly. During that time I'd been in a bad car wreck and had MRI's of my entire spine done. They just happened to find a large bile duct and warned me that it could get blocked on occasion and that causes incredible pain! When I first had it, I was literally screaming in the bathroom hoping it was gas and trying to expel it. It took me 6 times before I could get into the car to go to the ER... And then it was just gone-poof! I spoke to my doctor and she said that sounded like what had happened, and that the body can still grow stones from the liver, but they just don't have a "home" to live in/pile up in. They will generally just go away (I assume by stomach acid), but that it was past time I had a follow up colonoscopy (I'd tried but the new doctor refused), plus I have Endometriosis and they're worried that I have it inside my colon as I'd had on the outside WITH an adhesion to an ovary- being a woman is so much fun.
Anyway, that's coming up but I had NEW MRI's done, and they saw what looked like cysts on my liver and kidneys. My doc wasn't quite as concerned about them as she'd seen gallstones post Cholestecomy that looked like that. But I have my colonoscopy in a couple weeks.
However, Ive read in many comments about this drug or that- and I've tried them all so here's a little word on that:
Hycosymine is fantastic if you have loose stools and especially if they give you bad cramps. Taken daily though your body grows immune, and quickly! So my personal advice is to save them for symptom relief. Ametryptaline (I apologise for spelling errors) isn't good to be used long term either. I used to take it for my Endometriosis, but now I take it to prevent migraines. However after 5 months, the migraines are back.
I am not a doctor (though I took most of the same classes for.my undergrad degree and I am third generation pharmacy- I have to take my licensing exam before I'm a pharmacist though and I've studied eastern medicine for years- so I'm considered a "healer" in the Eastern Medical World) so I do know more than the regular guy down the road.... Anyway, I began taking Ranitidine (Zyrtec) every night before bed- two if I've.eaten something I suspect won't sit well. I also take one if I am having bad reflux. However-I can attest to this personally- drinking water is the BEST way to get rid of any reflux or indigestion. Just keep drinking it until it starts to settle. Make sure.ylure sitting up or standing too. Then, if five.mins have passed without releif, whatever you choose to take, take it then. Personally I take simethicone (gas ex). But one thing people make a mistake in doing is not eating to prevent reflux etc. NOPE. The stomach creates more acid if it's empty. As I find it particularly more difficult to eat anything then, I drink a nutrition shake (Ensure, Boost, or even Carnation Breakfast Essentials).
As far as diet, I haven't eaten anything "fried" like Fried Chicken in 13 years, but I will occasionally eat a few french fries.
I eat mostly lean white meats (though that has made me anemic), and I particularly love Pork Roast; however the ones I like best have a lot of seasoning on the meat already. So, I wash it off. There's still just enough left for some taste, but I don't get the heartburn I used to. I am careful with any peppers- even sweet ones bc though we.may not taste it, they're called peppers for a reason.
My best solution for ME is to carry simethicone and water with me anywhere I go. OH- AND TAKE A PROBIOTIC! unless your doctor says not to. They aren't cheap, but once you get them in your system and become regular again, you agree it's worth every penny.
I hope you all find what works best for you and keep trying until you do. You CAN get past it.
