Gallbladder removal..NOT for me - Any herbal remedies to keep attacks at their minimum?

Hi there again, I have just deferred my third operation to have my Gallbladder removed (contains one, large, solitary 2cm stone) and still very reluctant to do so. If I do go ahead and have it removed, then it will be my very, very, very last option.

I am prepared to put up with a few of hours of  delibitating, excruciating pain, rather than loose my Gallbladder entirely. Only to find that I still may be in some sort of discomfort or pain daily.

So, what I would like to ask, is there some sort of herbal concoction I could take/drink on a daily/weekly basis that may keep my attacks to a minimum.

I totally avoid the foods/drinks that bring on my attacks and am prepared to take anything else that may help. Thank you

I personally cannot stand the pain. I've been having pains for the last year now. Sometimes I would wake up in the middle of the night not being able to move. Also I'm always feeling fatigued. I saw a military dr and his response to my pain was that it was inflammation. I was given Neproxen(?) but it didnt work. Im at a new place and I have my appt to see my dr today. Im so hoping that he will look to see if i have gallstones. My mother had her gallstones removed a few years back and she feels so much better and im having all the symptoms she had prior to having surgery. I'm hoping I'll be getting a surgery done. I feel that having the surgery will eliminate other diagnoses. If the pain still continues then we know it wasnt just my gallbladder causing this pain.

That's what the doctor said to me.

If after surgery you still have symptoms it's because gallbladder was not your only problem .

      Hope you get sorted soon.

Do you get a dull pain, left, upper, quadrant when youre not having a gallbladder attack/Biliary Colic. Im just wondering if this is associated with an attack, or there could be another problem.

The discomfort, I think may be coming from my liver.

Would you know if this could be my large stone adhering itself to my liver.

Thanks and wishing you well, God Bless

I get a dull pain between my shoulder blades and after eating is when i get the pain on my right rib cage that shootes up into my back towards my lower right shoulder blade. I saw my doctor yesterday and shes ordered lab work to check my lipid count as well as my cholestrol and all that jazz as well as x-rays and an ultrasound. So i'll be doing all that early september to see if theres gallstones or to see if my gallbladder is inflammed. She also believes that part of my shoulder blade pain has to do with a rhomboid strain (thats the muscle that connects the shoulderblade to the back. She said that could be causing the pain in my upper back by the right shoulder blade. She recommended physical therapy for that which i should start in about a week.

Heres the link to a referred pain diagram that i found which made me want to get my gallbladder checked out. Look where you get your pains at and it tells you what really hurts. http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2277/2129/1600/ReferredPain.0.jpg

I can understand your anxiety but I had mine out after learning I had an inflammed gallbladder and gallstones. It was just as well I did because when they took it out it was very badly infected and would have caused me some real issues. As it was the exit wound for the op got infected by the gallbladder which resulted in me being rushed back in and operated on to remove an abscess and very strong antibiotices to kill the infection.

I am in a similar situation as you as I have a solitary 2cm stone in my gallbladder.  When I got the pain and went to the OPD after tests and investigations, I was advised not to have it removed but rather to avoid fatty foods and any other food that irritates the gallbladder

Its such a shame you cant bring yourself to have this operation. It is not as bad as some people would have you believe.I had mine out at 68 years old and its the best thing i could of ever done for my health.I'm now pain free and can eat almost anything. Why bother with the herbal route and run the risk of more flare ups. Please reconsider having this operation you will be sooo glad you did i promise. What ever you choose i wish you the best.
