Good luck for 29th Susan. I was really anxious as well, but if you've had gall bladder pain or even period pain the actual op will be like a walk in the park in comparison.

I'm needle phobic so I got some EMLA cream from my local pharmacist and took it with me to the pre-op etc for blood tests. Then on the morning of the op someone wanted to do another blood test and I got worried because I didn't have the cream on, and it takes an hour to work. So he spoke to the anaesthetist and the anaesthetist said not to worry, he'd take the blood when he put me under, so I didn't even notice the blood test!

When I came round everyone was lovely, and they were really good with the pain relief for as long as I needed it. - I wish I'd had that level of pain relief when I used to get period pains! I managed even the first night without needing painkillers, although I had some during the day for the next couple of days.

    Hi

pit makes it's way out of you at it's own pace .. Generally through your shoulders which makes them ache a bit but nothing too bad . I was a bit of a  take to my bed for the first two days after my operation and so I suffered from abdomen gas pain which went off if I walked  about . The surgeon told me walk about gently and the gas will leave your body quicker .  It took 3/4 days before I passed wind naturally and once that happened all settled .. Try not to fret I took paracetamols every 6 hours after my op and that made me comfortable ... The second day I got fed up watching my husband trying to cook and I put a quick meal in oven and told him to dish it up. Day 3 I was up and about .. Tired but able .. Then I swept the floor and felt like I'd been kicked didn't do any abdominal stuff again learnt my lesson waited the 6 weeks as told by doctor . Although I felt great at 6 weeks my energy returned at 12 weeks felt fantastic ... Have to remember your healing insid

    hope that helps

Hi Sally, As I'm very anxious and no doubt will be frightened of doing anything, I will remember to keep moving, albeit slowly and carefully. Do you know if peppermint tea/peppermint may help disperse it? Thanks

      Hi Elaine

they inflate your abdomen with the gas so it isn't really in your stomach it's everywhere and it just makes its way out through your skin ... Peppermint tea will do no harm and will help your digestive system adjust to no gall bladder..

I know how you are feeling my nerves were shot with years of colic attacks constant nausea and billionsness. I lived on boiled potatoes and boiled veg no meat for several years before diagnosis . But I instantly felt better .. My body just felt clear of a rotting gallbladder .. And I discovered I could eat normally with no side effects ... I cried with fear when they took me down to theatre anxiety and I cried tears of joy when I got in my own bed that night because I felt better.. My nerves have settled so much since removal ...I am calmer and I had such food phobias which have now gone .. So chin up won't be long and you will see 😃👍

Im nearly three weeks post op. I found walking about helped. I did a lot of burping mine seemed to come out that way wink All settled by day  6 hrs after the op I was pacing the hospital corridors and it really helped . The pain killers did ease it off a lot. Best wishes for your op smile

    Hi Elaine

I'm 2 weeks post op now sadly I was in bed quite a bit hence my gas has taken ages to disperse but been walking around etc so slowly better.

My nurse said everyone's body is different in terms of healing etc

I drink fresh mint in hot water and lemon as it helps the gas and acidity.

Good luck and it will all go well.

Hi Dee, was you in bed because of pain, or a little apprehensive of moving around? Also, I'm a little worried of the incision near the bra line! Has this been a problem for you?

The scar on me was below my bra line but I did find wearing a bra very uncofortable for the first two weeks just cause i was so distended but thats settled now.

Thanks for asking Jane, I've been in quite a bit of pain actually. It's been in my back mid back and right hand side first I thought it wasn't related but then I read it is common to get back pain with gallstones. I've had it for about 4 days now on and off, was bad tonight had to take tramadol and ibuprofen.

Counting down days to my op.

      Hi Elaine

I was both! My blood pressure went quite high before the op and after so I guess I wasn't feeling that great but I was walking around the apt. I am still suffering from gas although my tummy looks less than when I got home I still have a huge tummy so just have to be patient!

Oh yes tell me about that cut! It's healing well so it's a bit comfy but I still feel random shots/pulls of pain just under the bra line! Slowly gets better.

I think I've learnt that I just need to be patient and let the body heal from outside and within!

Heal well and take care x

Hi guys, operation went well, no complications. Three, brown, large stones removed.  Feeling very uncomfortable around right side. All of my incisions have been stapled up and the one along bra line is 2 inches long!!! That's the one I was most worried about. Managed to have shower today 2nd day post op, and went for a walk around garden. Seem to have a bad chesty cough, not good for my wounds

Thank you for all your kind wishes and for those of you recovering, get well soon, and for those waiting for the op, good luck.

      take care all xx
