Hi all,

Im 4.5 stone over weight and im looking into getting a gastric band,

i may sound drastic but i have tried eveything and i cant seem to get anywhere, all i think about is food and weight it takes over my life and i have had enough,

Anyone on here had a gastric band and how has it changed things for you? are you happy you did it or do you regret it?

Thanks

Well I personally have heard a lot of success stories.

Not everyone can lose weight for various reasons and it's personal choice.

Gym and cutting out fizzy drinks doesn't work for everyone.

      Hello!

I'm fine thanks, feeling good! I can't believe how quick it's gone but it feels like forever I've had the band! This week at work has been exhausting! I am working 6 days this week :-( but getting there!

Yes soft foods, mince meat, fish, mash that sort of thing!

You will be fine! It is so nerve racking though! Just make sure you stick to the pre diet as it's sooooooo important! I was so tempted by so many things whilst only drinking milk for 2 weeks but I stuck to it 100% and the surgeon said he could tell!

My scars are healing very nicely aswell which is good!

Enjoy your last day of food :-) make it something that you don't think you will be able to eat afterwards! Hehe xx

Hiya. Had my op Sunday, was second on the list so went to theatre at 9.50am, I was so glad. The staff were brilliant, my legs felt like jelly on the walk to theatre but they were so professional & so friendly. Was back in my room at. 11.30 and the surgeon came to see me to tell me he had not only fitted the band but repaired an hernia (never knew I had one). I was discharged Sunday at about half four and felt uncomfortable rather than in any pain . The biggest wound on the left is a little sore but the other smaller cuts are virtually healed just 3 days in. I have been on slim fast and cuppa soup, not hungry at all. Got a little pain today, feels like a burning sensation below my breast, like something is stuck. Wonder if gripe water would work. Going to call the hospital later just to check its "normal." No regrets, already lost half a stone ( I did not have to do the pre op diet). Good luck to everyone who are about to have the op.
